But that is what alot of countries think of English women, and of English men as football hooligans who drink too much, shag anything and throw up.

As I said I dont think all men are like this who come to Thailand but alot are, alot come just to get with a thai lady with the false understanding that all thai women are submissive and not like English women who argue and have opinions. Many of these men get screwed as everyone on this forum sees but also women get screwed too who go out there and fall in love.

I think the difference IMO is the fact that 'generally' these men that are spoken about go to Thailand FOR thai women and to find one who is submissive and will cater to his needs, is 20 years younger and by giving her money and a home to live in she will worship him and not talk back or have opinions like european women(like his ex more often then not). Generally women who go out to Thailand dont go looking for a submissive thai man to have worship them, they're usually there for whatever reason sometimes sex with a beach boy but they end up with their hearts smashed like many others.

The above is just stereotpying just like english girls on hen nights(and FYI i HATE typical hen nights, i dont get too drunk and would never stick a net with condoms on it on my head ), however it speaks true too otherwise this stereotype would never of even come about.

And yes there are many who are not like the above, but I suppose you don't hear of the ones who work out much or of the people who werent looking for love/sex and found it out there.

Actually, there is no double standard in the article, because it is citing a well-documented fact: the overwhelming majority of male expats/sexpats (in this case those who work for multinationals) are well past their prime and involved in local relationships with very large age gaps of twenty years or more. Your comment, on the other hand, assumes that all Western women are feminists, which is not the case. It is also, obviously, not the case that all feminists are ugly, because I'm sure you have not polled every single woman on earth on whether or not she is a feminist. But, to make it easy for you, I should remind you that the person considered to be the icon of feminism, Gloria Steinem, was a playboy bunny in her youth and looks better in her 70s than most average, Western middle-age men that I have seen walking down the street in LOS.

the way heather mills is behaving is horrid. i would have thought that with a child born out of a marriage that was initially for love (whatever that means) she did alright. even if the marriage does end up in tatters, i fail to see that it was a complete failure.

i do think that SOME compensation should be paid in order to raise the child, however for her to say that shes not in it for the money is <deleted>. 50m is outrageous.

Feminazi is a horrible term, used by little men to giggle behind the backs of women they fear.

I think the article is relatively accurate; the picture she paints is one that one sees every day around Bangkok and Pattaya and for us to sit in moral indignation is hypocritical. The outcry of outrage here is similar to the rage of Calyban when he saw his face in the mirror.

As a piece of sensational journalism, it's accurate. As a piece of real journalism, however, it is piss poor and she would have earned more respect (but fewer titilated readers) had she provided a bit of balance by portraying many real and sincere relationships that have developed between Thai and Farang (both male and female).

But what do you expect? It's easier to draw caricatures than paint real pictures. I should know; I'm probably more guilty of that on this forum than most.

I went to a nightclub in Aberdeen a couple of years ago and the women there were disgusting. One threatened to 'chib me' when I was buying a haggis supper just for looking at her - she was wering a mini-skirt and was about 40 years old and 15 stone!

Many many men in Thailand are here because they didn't have any chance of 'getting' a girl of the minority(nice ones) because of their age/financial situation/bad looks/obesity etc. for me my alcoholism didn't go down too well.

There are a few of us who came here not thinking about the women(or men), however they were an huge added bonus.

With an attitude like that, your comments about expat men in Thailand will become self-fulfilling. The guys you are meeting/met in Thailand are probably more a reflection of your own attitudes than anything.

A lot of sweeping generalisations about the expat guys you (and no doubt like minded friends) have met (or read about) in Thailand. No point in replying to any of the individual points really. You are probably, if anything, proving the very points about some western women, that you are trying to disagree with.
