Hi,

Does anyone know who has these (Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz - G0 Stepping model) in BKK, I thought Busitek would have them but have just spoken to them and they say the ones they have can't be overclocked much.

The G0 Stepping model will apparently clock to 3.6ghz on stock cooling, so i'm not wasting cash on another version.

Thanks for any info.

I bought mine at Jedi (Pantip, Ground Floor, two branches). I overclocked it to 3.0Ghz without a problem. Don't want to go higher, even when having a dedicated CPU cooler.

Look at the package for the product code ... Q6600SLACKR .. that's a G0.

I use Zalman CNPS9700 LED .... no complains.

BTW On my 40,000+ baht system I saved THB 1,000 at Jedi compared to Busitek. Very nice people and if you have a problem

they'll fix it right away.

You might say 1,000 baht is not a lot, but it got me a free wireless keyboard/mouse combination.

Also, do you think the following will be ok on a 500w Entermax Liberty PSU?

Asus Maximus Formula

RAM Geil Ultra Series 4GB @ 1066mhz (2GBx2)

4x400gb SATA2 (RAID 0+1) + 1x250gb SATA2

XFX Gefrorce 8800 GT XXX

Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.6ghz

DVD

Modem

Floppy

Scanner

Thx for the advice.

If you are running a 8800GTX and all those harddrives you may well need a bit more umph. I'd look at a 600-750w PSU.

Just curious why no DVD burner and why the floppy?

Cock on old chap, ran the config thru the following calculators and it will need over 603w @ peak + 30A on a single rail. So even the Enermax Liberty 620w wouldn't have cut the mustard.

If you go into pantip stay on the lowest floor and head to the right. There are some really good shops that offer decent prices and have great cases, coolers and other stuff. They actually beat all other prices for the system I have let them built for me last month.

I just wanted to add that I also bought a Q6600 from Jedi downstairs back in October 2007 and it looks like it was a G0 stepping, based on the packaging saying SLACR and the x86info on Linux showing stepping 11, whereas I think the stepping for the previous B3 core was 7. (Took a bit of googling to find out that they are all either B3 or G0 and 7 or 11, and I'm guessing that 11 is newer than 7).

Jedi is amongst them. They also have a branch at the left side (opposite Hardware House).

CPU-Z reports in indeed as a 'G0'.
