Thai Word For 'classifier'

I am often a little daunted by the sheer volume of classifiers, and amazed by the ease with which Thais seem to know the classifier for even the most obscure nouns.

What is the Thai word for classifier, as in 'what is the classifier for x?'

When in doubt (ie most of the time) is there a good 'all purpose' classifier - yang or tua maybe?

That's easy ลักษณนาม and since I can't be 'short' พลุ ประทัด จาก are in ตับ rocket firecracker and Nippa palm leaf, honestly I can't figure it out. I think อัน works.
