Chantal
For those interested Instructor/Photographer Joel Tomalin took this photo of a 2.5+ metre Banded Sea Snake eating a Moray Eel at Sharkpoint recently.
Quero
Thanks Chantal, very interesting indeed! I heard about this (or something very similar) last week on a boat. I was told that the fight between the two was a real spectacle with twining bodies spinning through the water until the snake's venom finally defeated the moray. Guess I'm too much of a girl, but I'm glad I didn't witness it ;-) Edited February 17, 2008 by mfiskong
Bowmouth
I've been diving for a long time, been to many places and seen a helluva lot. I've never witnessed a banded seakrait eating a giant moray eel though! Amazing behaviour indeed! Well done Joel!
Chantal
Have to admit Mfiskong - glad I did not see it as well. Am too much of a woos! Apparently the whole ordeal took about 20 minutes. From injecting the Moray, twisting and tugging to loosen it in the hole, pulling it out of the hole up to swallowing it. donna
what a lucky shot. i, on the other hand, think it would have been a real spectacle to see. it would have kept me mesmerized!
