Thanks Z, I think so

Shitzu's love the sun too. :o

Ours like to be in the sun and beach. But sleeping and relaxing in full sunshine does only the Boxer.

Gerd

but happy together in the early morning sunshine:

I have a silky terrier that loves the sun. He follows it around the house depending on what window it is shinning in.

My cat also follows the sun around the living room and actually feels realy hot to touch,,,, when it is 7 degrees outside

Hate to break it to you guys, but I am pretty sure its a dog thing :o

All of our dogs (and I mean, all of them over the years that I have lived here) enjoy the sun. Some dogs more than others but they have ALL done it. And I am talking midday full tropical sun. My husband believes they lie in the sun to get really hot and the fleas jump off. I've never gone and tested it but someone might want to vaccuum their rug more often :D

Hey sbk watch where you aim that thing. :o:D :D

Yeah, I reckon it's a dog thing, and not just mad ones.

We don't have a dog in Thailand (yet), but back in the UK we had a Labrador (sp.) that used to toast himself by the fire. On several occasions we had to persude him to move as he was smoking! He only moved reluctantly and returned to his blast-furnace location as soon as our backs were turned.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

At my place it depends on the dog, the species, the time of year and time of day.

My old female Afghan loved to take sunbathes. The rottie only when it wasn't too hot, like early morning or in 'winter' time, but then even not too long.

Bossy, the St. Bernard, can always be found in the feeding room on the tiles (= cool). She hardly ever lies in the full sun.

And my GSD male has a heat allergy (due to the damned vaccines) , so he really prefers cool places and clearly does a lot bettter during the cold season.

And so, every dog has its own preferences.

Nienke

i found that black dogs do more sunbathing than brighter coloured ones, they really bake sometimes.

my gsds and goldens hardly ever to be found lying in the sun.

the dogs with extremely short velvet like fur are sunbathing the most :D

and the cats of course :o

Interesting, Tigger is a brown brindleish dog, she sunbathes the most, the two black dogs slightly less and our white dog, not at all.

We only have a white dog, named "White" by the Thais. In winter, he stays outside in the brightest sunlight. I don't recall him doing that much sunbathing in the blazing hot season.
