Email Sms Alerts

Featured Replies

Hi,

New member as of today so hello to all users of Thai Visa Forum.

I have a UK based webmail service that will forward my mail to any email address.

What I was wondering was is there a service I can have my mail forwarded to (email) that will send me an SMS notification.

I read somewhere if I changed my phone number to dtac Happy I can use this but unfortunately I want to keep the number I have had for years for obvious reasons.

So is there a free sms alert service with 'sanook' or any of the other popular websites or am I pretty much stuffed?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sollutions will result in extra merit making in the days to come and good luck to all involved.

I can find no email to SMS gateway for 12Call..

You can pay a small fee to set up an account to do this with many SMS providers tho.

Does it have to be SMS ?

You could set up POP3 access via your mobile and set it to check every 30 mins (or your choice), if you get a GPRS package the cost will be small.

Personally I use opera mini and just check every now and again on the mobile when away from the PC, but maybe it's important for you to respond quickly to these emails.

Thanks guys and gals,

Not much joy. Dtac do an sms via their own email but if you want sms alerts I have to forward my emails to a hotmail account and they will sms me (3B a text).

Once I set it up I could only get it to work on my wifes phone so we have switched numbers.

Also worth doing is setting up your junkmail preferences so as to not have to pay for spam (Whitelist works)

Thanks

Keelan

Keelan, when I read your first post I understood that you wanted to receive an SMS to say that a new message has arrive in your email box, so that you could then decide if you wanted to rush off to an Internet café to check your mail.

If you want to read your email on your mobile phone, you have to subscribe to the GPRS service of your mobile phone provider and pay the corresponding fee. DTAC and other providers have various data packages to chose from.

It will be useful if the software on your phone lets you chose to download the headers only as a first step, and after that download only messages you select.
