Tot Adsl Configuration

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

At 4am today my internet light went off (both the DSL and LAN lights are on). As of 12:00 today, still

no Internet light.

I did look in the router config and saw no IP address for the gateway address (not 192.168.1.1, but an

address to TOT gateway). Should there be one?

If there should be an IP address, can someone post the address so I can fill it in.

Thanks,

Gary

This gateway (along with your public IP address and dns servers) should be given to your router by the DHCP server of TOT.

If your router doesn't show a gateway, either your userword/password combo (in the PPoE settings) are not accepted by TOT, they messed up their user database or their system is completely down.

If you did get a public IP, but no gateway, they have a problem at their side. In Thailand you normally cannot set your gateway and IP address yourself, this is only done on static IP connections, seldom used in Thailand.

You can however change your DNS servers at will, many users set them to the opendns servers, since the Thai dns servers are often not working properly!

Try to call to 1177 folow by your phone number incl. 038 and let check the connection. You can also try to use the DNS from Open DNS: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

Cheers.

Thanks for the info.

I think I will have to contact TOT to resolve the problem. The Internet light went out during a movie download,

so it was nothing I did on my end. Even rebooting the router did not resolve the problem.

Gary

Don’t know if this is relevant as the solutions to internet problems always appear too high tech for me to fully understand.

Anyway when I first connected with ADSL I used to get in a right flap every time it didn’t work. I would re-boot and re-install all the configurations, phone TOT and then re-install and re-configure everything again.

Eventually I realized that as long as I had not changed any settings the fault was not mine and all I had to do was wait for TOT to start up again.

If you are using a download manager or a Torrent thingie these will pick up your download from where it left off so no loss if the service is interrupted.

There have been enough posts on this forum to make everyone aware that the Internet wherever you are will have connection problems so just lay back and wait for the connection to re-establish?

As an example the other day (Sunday) my ADSL was out practically all day, the phone also, why on a Sunday? But it all came back on again in the evening.

Just my couple of cents worth

Chilled out Daf. :o

Here is what I found out from TOT.

They said there was an Internet problem in the South Pattaya area near Pattaya Park. I live on the adjacent soi.

They had no idea when the problem would be fixed. They said they would call me when it got fixed. (yea. Sure!)

At 5 am this morning I woke up and rebooted my modem. Voila!!! Everything is now working.

Thanks for everybody's help and suggestions.

Me think they may call you at 3.30 am?! Or didn't like to wake you up?!

Who knows. Happy to back online.

Cheers.

Believe it or not, TOT did call back to check if my Internet was working.

What a surprise!

Maybe they are trying to improve their customer service. :o
