We modified our pickup years ago (isuzu--to an extra cab from a regular) --they did a seamless job, it looks great. But, on the registration it still lists the truck as a regular cab. We cannot sell the vehicle until we modify the registration to show it as an extra cab. This would require a trip to Samui (i think, could be Surat) which is not a problem, BUT (the big but) my husband thinks it would be very costly to change the registration and not worth the money we would make from selling the truck.

So, does anyone know what the costs might run? Does it depend on the value of the vehicle?

They might be interested in back taxes for the change, so I suggest a very vague telephone call (maybe to the licencing office in a different region) asking about the costs involved. You might find they just accept a recent photograph and a letter stating that the current blue book is "wrong", implying that someone made a mistake in the past. Saying that the engine number etc is correct might help. But yes there is always the chance they want to see it in the flesh.

We have the usual inspection station here on the island (for the yearly registration) but they don't do blue book changes. Wonder if that guy might have an idea of the costs? My husband (like many local people :D) has a dread fear of talking to bureaucrats on the phone. Not sure how good he'd be at a "vague phone call" :o but he does know the guy at the local office so that might be an option.

Does anyone have an idea of how expensive it might run? He's thinking 40,000++ which seems excessively high to me.
