Hi Folks,

I am an Indian national and arrived in Thailand a few weeks back with a Non Imm "O" visa based on marriage to a Thai national.I was given a 90 day stay on this visa and it expires in May 2008.My wife is Thai and we have a one year old son who has Thai nationality.

I am looking at the one year extension of this visa based on the following:

1. My wife was employed with Hyatt from Oct 2007 to Dec 2007 where her salary was in the range of 45000 baht and she has also duly paid the taxes on this income. She is now employed in Bangkok with a salary of 35000 baht and will start work on March 2008(My visa expires in May 2008)

2. I have an understanding with my office back in India that allows me to work from Thailand. I get paid around $1400 as salary into my bank account in India.

Is it possible to get the one year extension based on the above 2 points.

A response would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Loki

I don't think there will be a problem as the 40,000 Baht can be a joint income. You'll need certification of the offshore income from your embassy (hopefully it will be cheaper than the UK lot charge).

Obviously there are a whole bunch of other requirements.

Do be careful if you are 'working' in Thailand without a work permit as this is illegal.

As mentioned you can not work while in Thailand unless you have a work permit. Suspect if you wish to extend on a yearly basis you might be better off 'finding' another job for your wife so all income is hers.
