Burmese Need Thaivisa To Do Laos/los/laos Border Run?

Hello,my Burmese freind & i are currently in Laos,after both our thai visas were coming to an end,& today we went to the thai immigration in vientiane to,hopefully get some exact info,regarding her exiting laos to thailand,& then back to Laos,in a little while.The message we got from the lady,after a lengthy blank pause,was abit vague,& not too freindly.

I've contacted immigration call centers,& whilst helpful,their english wasnt perfect,but it seems that Burmese passport holders wishing to enter back into Laos have to fly into Thailand (as they do from burma) with thai visa,in order to cross back into Laos?????

I'm hoping somebody here has past experience with this,plus i dont like relying on info over the phone in this part of the world.

It just seems daft if she has to fly into thailand with thai visa when all she wants to do is re-enter Laos via the border (as i can),& not actually enter/stay in thailand.
