Look I am not bashing you.... I just can't understand the deisire to pretend to have something more than a scooter. But hey, it is your money... so run with it.

If you have ridden scooters and the CBR150 you will know it is not a scooter. And if you ridden anything bigger you will know it isn't a top of the line crotch rocket. It is what it is and many people are pleased with it.

As far as alterations are concerned, for me it is about the creative process.

If I needed a big bike to bolster my ego I have had many opportunites to do so. I Don't think any one gives a crap what I ride anyways, so I ride the bike I chose. That doesn't mean that now I have to wear a skirt and rent Thelma and Louise however.

I guess it is a matter of personalities. As for me, when I was a boy, I loved to fish in ponds and lakes. When I got older I moved to off shore fishing.... after that, no fresh water fishing experience is ever going to compare to the fishing that the ocean has to offer.

In the states I drove an M3... in Thailand, on occassion a Camry... and I usually do not drive because... why bother, it offers no joy.

In the states, a YZF, after that.... everything is pretty much a scooter.... and really I don't care because that YZF would have been the death of me sooner rather than latter.

It was a very frustrating day today. I hoped to have pics of the decal job but the trip to the sticker shop was a nightmare. The guy doing the application was some teenager who acted as if he rather be somewhere else. He jumped right in with the biggest piece, cigarette in one hand a box cuter knife in the other. He was arguing with his buddy as he worked. Anyhow it didn't get very far along when I realized it was looking terrible. a close look at the decals showed they were cut with rough edges instead of smooth curves. The sitcker shop uses Corel Draw, I use Adobe Illustrator, but instead of using the Illustrator paths, they just import the images as line art and all my smooth edges become jagged edges. I studied up on how to import them right, so I will begin again tomorrow. At least they let me use their computer.

Phase 2 comlplete, I have the initial graphics done. I took a big risk and went for reflective material on the flames. You can see in the shot with no flash, that the flames are nearly invisible. But when they are in direct light, they shine back in vaious orange colors. I like the effect when the bike is at certain angles, but I think it might not be enough. I am considering a hand painted pinstripe in a slightly redder orange, to go all around the flames.

What do you think?

I will also be adding a few more decals here and there to balance things out, just simple designy stuff.

Did you consider an orange front mudguard?

Personally I would be keener to leave things subtle than too overstated.. I think in the full side look they are enough and like the candyflip aspect.

I also agree that an orange front mudguard may work better visually.

I have to admit I am not a big fan of the CBR's look.. Bit too narrow for me.. But you have made that look good, improvement for sure.

Well that steady hand will be me. But first I have to back it up a little. The larger flame on the front part of the bike is all wrong. I realized it later. I will be stripping it off tomorrow and heading back to the decal shop on Monday. My fault. They are going to hate me by the end of this. At least I tipped them, that should buy some favor.

The mudguard in the front will be getting some special treatment and then it will show better.

Wow, it looks fantastic! Congrats. Do you live in the CM area? If so, where is the paint shop?

Not the same place that Canuckamuck got his paint job but in the CM area if you go down to see Richo at "Richo's" - the place that usually has a couple of Harley Davidson's parked out front he will introduce you to a very talented Thai lad who does some very nice paint work. He has a Vespa in very similar colours as Canuck's CBR.

FYI If you are coming from the moat turn down the aptly named Wua Lai Road and turn Left at the Cow Statue. It is the subtle painted yellow and black shop. He is American so you will have minimal problems speaking English with him.

Someone asked me to detail the process of changing the color on the motorcycle registration.

This is a very simple process. I went to the place I normally do the registration, I told them my bike is now orange instead of red. I was fortunate that it was also the time to re-register my bike for the year.

They did everything the same as the years before, except that:

They asked for a receipt from the paint shop where the bike was painted.

They asked for my work permit

I did not have the receipt from the paint shop, so she said don't worry about it.

The change of color added 800 baht to this years fee.

This was quite simple, the biggest issue was whether my bike was black or orange, they couldn't decide. I am not sure what their final decision was. It is pretty obvious to me that there is about 75% more orange paint than black, but hey 'tit".

I might have a go at re-doing the front flames tomorrow if I have some extra time.

It has been a long time getting back to this project. It turned out that I hated the first round of decals. I spent several hours peeling of the old stuff. Not easy to do while keeping the paint intact.

I did a redesign and today I finally got the chance to apply the new ones. I know it seems like I left a lot of open space, but everything I tried seemed overdone. I am pretty happy with how it has turned out so far. I will be getting a clear coat over the decals when I get some time.

Next phase will be after market parts. I definitley have to lose that scratched up exhaust, I think I will go with carbon fiber.

Does anybody here know how to contact goodspeed? Their website is confusing and I can't find prices. They don't answer their phone or email. They have stuff I want to buy, they just don't seem to want to be contacted.

The naked CBR doesn't look hugely different from my naked NSR Guess they were both designed by the same folks?
