February 29, 200818 yr HELLO All, I'm new on this site. I'm a Belgian citizan and living in Thailand for about 5 years on a "NonImmigrant-type O" visa. I have a monthly retirement from the Belgian governement. Yearly I get my renewal from the Immigrationoffice. So far no problem. Recently I Married a Thai lady, more specific, on the 05/02/2008. I have to go to the Immigration Office on the 30/03/2008, will I encounter anny problem concerning the change of my civilian state. Sorry, the English language is not my home language; so if I make anny mistakes, sorry about that> Floppy
February 29, 200818 yr Well civilian status does not usually mean unmarried in English but makes the language more interesting. There should not be any problem but if you want have her go with you - when you change from marriage to retirement extensions they do want to have the wife understand the change but if you are not making a change it probably is not necessary. If you plan to make a change and use the 40k family income method wife would have to go with you and a lot of extra paperwork be provided.
February 29, 200818 yr A change of status from un-married to married won't make any difference to your current extension (retirement?). You can change your extension to one based on your marriage or just leave it as it is - I can not see any good reason the change but that is entirely your decision.
