Sending/receiving Email Problems With Tot

Featured Replies

I have TOT at home and a TT&T connection at the office so I can confirm that this is ONLY a TOT problem and has been happening for about 3 weeks now...

When I try to send messages from Outlook Express (or a similar email program), I always get a Socket error message. (My work email server is based in Hong Kong). As a result, I am forced to copy all outgoing messages to a webmail (ie hotmail or gmail) in order to send messages from home.

Most of the time, I also cannot download the messages to outlook either.

The problem does not exist when I send/receive messages from our TT&T office connection.

I am wondering if there is anything that I am doing wrong, or can change, in order to be able to send emails through a non-webmail based program again.

If this problem happening with more people than just me?

Thanks

THanks for the fast response Big Snake.

Time to time is understandable (at least in Thailand). However; this has existed for 3 straight weeks now.

Try one of the following:

1) Change our smtp (outgoing mail) server name to TOT's smtp server

http://www.phuket-data-wizards.com/en/adsl.php

2) Can be caused by DNS problems, replace your smpt server name with the servers's IP address or just replace the TOT DNS server with Open DNS IPs in your connection settings or adsl modem settings

THanks Anthos

I'll try your idea and see what happens.

change smtp port from 25 to 1025. Tot is recently blocking port 25 for spam reasons

use this for your smtp server

smtp.totisp.net
