Which Speedtest To Use ?

Featured Replies

I am (also) plagued by a slower TOT connection, which I especially dislike when watching internet TV programs from my home country. In the past, (let's say more than 10 days ago) I could follow TV programs at day time without any buffering, if I did use the slow connection instead of the highspeed connection.

Which speedtest can I use to check how bad things are ? Both the results of Speedtest.net as well as Adslthailand.com don't look too bad, with download speeds of around 1700 kbps and upload speeds of around 400 kbps.

Secondly : can a program like Bittorrent or Azureus be used for every TV program or are these only usable for selected programs ?

This one is great with plenty of options (tweaks) in the other tabs for optimising your connection.

I also like this one. http://www.numion.com/YourSpeed3/index.html

The surf speed section of the test measures "real world" browser speeds to load from sites around the world. A real time comparison to other users in your country is displayed with the test results.

I am a little bit puzzled by the results of the Thaivisa speedtest. Numbers are for downloading 664 and for uploading 422, while the Thaivisa website is one of the quickest to appear on the screen. How can this be, is this a different kind of test than the one of Speedtest.net and Adslthailand.com, who both give more than 1700 kbps for downloading ? Uploading is more or less the same : over 400 kbps. The mind boggles... :o

ADSLThailand will give you 2 different speed's: 1 Local and the 2. International. If you just click on Speedtest instead of the Flag for Thailand or the USA, you'll get the local speed only! That speed will be hight at nearly all times. The international is different and will shows much less!

Interest may is to know, where you loose the speed. If you use the program Sam Spade (available at TV Downloads) you can see the times in miliseconds and using to trace a website somewhere will show you at whichs hop the time increases a lot. That's at the TRUE Network at themoment the packet reaches the CAT Gateway wich is just a few seconds ago 1593 ms!!

May you test with that program as well!!

Cheers.

Thanks for the useful information. But, as far as I can see, the latest Adslthailand.com test can only provide 1 testresult : the quick and local one.
