Kingston Life-time-warranty

Featured Replies

Avoid buying Kingston memory distributed by Ingram Micro. We love Kingston memory; we use Kingston memory modules in most of our computers.

It not happens that often, but it happens sometimes, a memory module broke down, we think no problem the memory module is 2 years old and we have life-time-warranty on Kingston.

But to our surprise, life-time-warranty is less then 2 years at Panthip Ingram-Micro service center. So we, paid extra for believing we both something like 5 to 6 years warranty and ended up with nothing other then what you get with regular cheapest memory modules.

At least Synex, the other Kingston distributor is not shy and still offers Life-time-warranty, we also last weekend exchanged a goldy-oldy 256MB SRAM SIM without any problem.

So Ingram-Micro… for Kingston is for us a no no, and surely that will have effect on other products which they distribute.

Let this be a warning……. (I have invoices and photos to show as evidence) and, even as small as this product cost, I will take it to the highest level.

Hello :o

I have, only once, needed to replace a faulty "Kingston" RAM stick which was about three years old. I asked my way thru in Panthip and was pointed to "Synnex" which, as i later found out, is the importer/wholesaler for "Kingston" products here.

Now my particular RAM was NOT sold by Synnex but - no questions asked, they took it and told me to come by in a few days because they would test it. So i did - showed up again three days later and they gave me a new one.

Now i did NOT have any receipt or anything for that RAM, but they too said to me that all Kingston memory products have a life-time-warranty, just that IF i had the receipt they would have swapped it right there without having to test it first etc.

This is one of the reasons why i use Kingston exclusively when building machines - and the other fact is that, apart from that lone RAM stick, i never had a problem with any of their products and i have used a LOT of them.

Best regards.....

Thanh

Now-a-days you have two (official) distributors the first Synnex and the second is the USA giant Ingram-Micro.

And yes we have no problems with Synnex service, our problem is only with Ingram Micro. And we therefore want to warn people who know, belief, or expect real lifetime (which is to European Law 10 years) warranty.

So Kingston lifetime warranty products by Synnex is good, and Kingston lifetime warranty products by Ingram-Micro is better not buy.

I had the option of a Kingston 1 GB stick or somebody else's (can't remember the name). The alternative was about 20% more expensive with a "lifetime warranty", but the Kingston had only a one year warranty. I hope I made the right choice. :o

Nothing wrong with Kingston in general, everything breaks down sometimes and then service is important. The first Kingston distributor Synnex has never don difficult in exchanging faulty equipment.

Yesterday, we got into contact with Ingram-Micro and we received an excuse and the Kingston memory module is exchanged. So, when a service center says no warranty it maybe helpful not to give up that easy.....
