Glasses

Featured Replies

While on a car trip, an old couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch. The old woman unfortunately left her glasses on the table, but didn't miss them until they were back on the highway. By then, they had to travel quite a distance before they could find a place to turn around.

The old man fussed and complained all the way back to the restaurant.

When they finally arrived, as the old woman got out of the car to retrieve her glasses the old man said, "While you're in there, you may as well get my hat, too."

Truth can be stranger than fiction. While working as a hotel manager on the Nullarbor Plain at Madura, in Western Australia, a housekeeper reported she had found a lady's handbag in one of the rooms. I opened the handbag in the housekeeper's presence and phoned the nearest police station at Eucla, 200km east and reported the handbag to them as lost property.

Sure enough, 4 hours later I get a phone call from the lady. They were at Nullarbor Roadhouse, 400km east of Madura. The lady only missed her handbag when they went to fill their car. With a once a week postal service from Madura, it would have been difficult to reunite the handbag with its owner.

The elderly couple decided to drive 400km back to Madura and spend the night at my hotel.

Needless to say, when they left the following morning, the husband took me aside and assured me his wife had her handbag with her. When they left the room, he put the handle over his wife's head! Jokingly, I hope.
