looking for a hotel near jj/saphan kwai.

anyone know what Sena and Elizabeth hotels are like? only need to stop 1 night,have a toddler with me so dont want anything seedy !

Sena Place Hotel is in Saphan Kwai just down the road from the market. It is a fairly basic but in my view quite acceptable. There are two grades of rooms, with the deluxe ones being quite reasonable. There is a clean but unexceptional restaurant, offering the usual disappointing Thai copy of the western breakfast. As I recall, there is no swimming pool. Something that may not appeal to everybody is the many gay bars around the immediate area. I didn't see anything inside the hotel that would be noticed by a toddler, though it seemed to me that there were a couple of same sex couples among the guests. If you are willing to walk a little further to Intramura you can observe the interesting sight of a number of Thai style a-go-gos (with female dancers), but again this does not seem to have affected the hotel much. The market is a five minute taxi ride or a longish walk.

      Thai/UK Dual National renewing UK Passport.

      I posted this on the visas to others countries forum. Not really sure where to put it. Does anybody have an answer. "My ex wife renewing her UK passport has been told to send her Thai passport with the UK application. I can't think of a single reason why that is necessary. Has some strange rule come into place where dual nationals in the UK need to show their national passport when renewing their UK passport?"

      Student Injured After Being Run Over at Udon Thani School

      Picture courtesy of Matichon. A student was injured after being accidentally run over by a pick-up truck driven by the husband of a teacher at a prominent school in Udon Thani. The incident occurred on 18 August at approximately 17:50 in the school’s concrete dome area, where the student was waiting for his parents. The driver, arriving to collect his wife, reportedly did not notice the child and ran over the student’s lower back, resulting in a fractured pelvis. The school immediately rushed the boy to Udon Thani Hospital, where doctors continue to monitor his condition closely. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Payakkaphon Rodchomphu, the school principal, expressed his deep concern, stating that such an incident had never occurred before. He confirmed that both the driver and the school have insurance to cover the child’s medical treatment and assured parents that the student would receive full support. “The safety of our students is our top priority,” said Mr. Rodchomphu. “Normally, children remaining at school after 16:00 are supervised, and incidents are minor. This was completely unexpected. We will strengthen safety measures and may restrict vehicles from entering the dome area to prevent similar accidents in the future.” Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
