Does anyone know how to get any good rates for GP? I will be there for 21 days in December-January. I wrote them and they're quoting me 3000 baht night, for a regency suite and 3400 for a royal. I haven't been there for a few years but I remember that in 2001/2002 it was half that rate. Anyone in particular I should contact, bkz Compass Hospitality is not hospitable, lol (i know stupid pun). Thanks in advance.

I've booked President Park (the one on Suk 24) via the sawasdee.com portal - not sure if you can book Grand Pres that way too...

Just had a look at the Internet rates for the Grand President Hotel in Bangkok.

Please remember, costs have increased in the last 7 years - fuel has doubled. Room rates in Thailand are still well below most other Asian countries. Try to get a room under 4000 baht a night in Singapore or Bangkok ... let alone a suite! Also you are travelling at peak season (Dec 2008-Jan 2009) so hotels have no need to discount rooms.

On their website, they are showing Regency Suite at 2,999 baht a night (Internet rate), 7,999 baht a night (rack rate single) or 56,000 baht (monthly rate).

Personally, I would go for the monthly rate - it's under 2,000 baht a day. Maybe either extend your stay for an extra 9 or 10 days or sub-let the remainder.

I stayed at the GP for 10 days in January in one of the Royal Suites in tower 2. Very nice hotel, large suites, great staff and a short taxi ride to Bumrungrad Hospital when I contracted Gastritis from some bad street food :o

Anyway, I booked online at their site a few months in advance after researching some other sites and not finding a whole lot of difference (if any) in the rates. At the time the rate was around 3,000k per night. I'm going back in December and it looks like their prices are going up a bit, as are most of the other hotels I've checked out. Still worth it IMO.

Try hopeland soi 24, Modern and new compared to the now overpriced and dated president establishments. They are all in so need of renovating.

Also try sofitel serviced and Sofitel Grand...much better for similar money if u bargain a bit.

Never been in Hopeland, agree it's certainly new - just gives me the impression of being very much aimed at Japanese expats - could be wrong there of course. There's also an Oakwood Residence just opened on Suk 24 ... again haven't tried it but if it's up to the same standards as the Oakwood down on Naradhiwas 24 then it'll be very good.
