Yesterday LV Cannabis Boutique BKK had approximately 2,500 Google reviews with a 5.0 rating. Today we suddenly have around 600 reviews and a 4.9 rating. In other words, roughly 1,900 reviews disappeared from our Google Business Profile in less than 24 hours. For context, this wasn’t a sudden spike in reviews that Google might have corrected. Our profile has been growing steadily for a long time. About a month ago we had 2,401 reviews, yesterday we were at roughly 2,500, and everything appeared completely normal. Then today — around 1,900 of them were simply gone. What makes the situation even stranger is that we have received absolutely no notification from Google. No email. No policy warning. No suspension. No fake engagement notice. No restriction visible inside the Business Profile. The listing is active as usual, and new reviews still appear to be coming through. We have also now learned that our location in Phuket has apparently lost a very large percentage of its Google reviews at around the same time. That made me start looking into whether this could be something broader rather than an issue specifically affecting LV. I’ve since found reports of other businesses experiencing very large and sudden drops in their Google review counts. I’ve also spoken to a business owner in Portugal who experienced something very similar in the past: Google apparently re-checked a large batch of reviews, temporarily removed many of them from the visible count, and then gradually started returning them. So at the moment we’re deliberately not making any changes to our Google Business Profile. We want to give it a little time and see whether the missing reviews begin returning on their own before escalating anything with Google. I’m very interested to hear from other business owners in Thailand: Has anyone experienced a large Google review drop like this recently? Especially interested in cases where hundreds or thousands of existing reviews disappeared almost at once. If it happened to your business: Did the reviews eventually return? Did they return gradually or all at once? How long did it take? Did Google ever explain what happened? Did contacting Google Business Profile Support help, or did the reviews restore themselves? I’ve attached screenshots showing our previous review count and what the profile is showing now. I’ll keep updating this thread as the situation develops. If this is some kind of broader Google review re-check or system issue affecting businesses in Thailand, hopefully having a public record here will also help other business owners who suddenly find themselves in the same situation.
