Not many thought the Thailand Ladies Amateur Open would grow into a major event when it was launched 18 years ago.

The most many expected was that it could attract a few regional players. But today it has soared into an international event of high stature.

This year's meet, despite a few late withdrawals, attracted 110 entries from 11 countries for the individual competition and 18 teams for the team trophies.
