So there was that whole business where apparently underwater cables caused net outages across the globe, and slowed the net in these parts to a crawl.

They were fixed some weeks back, and things seems to get better for a while, then normal crappy service resumed.

Recently, the last week or two, things have gotten worse and worse. At time, certain international websites time out, TV times out or lags horribly, etc. I try to play WoW, but it's getting to be near impossible. I run 800 to 1300ms, with constant disconnects in the evenings; to those who play, I disconnected 4 times through a Tidewalker fight in SSC... while graved, then got disconnected multiple times again on Leo, and VR in TK. If not for the disconnects, I raid sometimes at 2000ms.

Ventrilo/TS is out of the question... impossible to stay connected with either and WoW running at the same time.

Seems the lag's back? Anyone know which genius broke what undersea cable/satellite/power plug this time?

p.s. Another problem I seem to have is that my guild forums are somehow blocked by the ISP? I'm using True... is there any way I can get to view the forums? :x

I'm dropping True this month for either KSC or Buddy.

I had the same problem (I signed up to WoW after a break and for the entire month haven't had ping any lower than 500ms). I ping out to like 1000 at 2am (because those are the peak hours, right?). I pretty much sent them an e-mail every 5-6 hours for about a week, until they said 'They'd make it a special case and look into it.' And that was that. No response. No analysis of my connection. Not only did my connection not improve throughout this month, it slowly started deteriorating even further. It's at a point now where 80-90% of the time that I'm awake, the internet is about as fast as dial-up (unles I'm thai websites). They just wanted me to shut up and keep paying.

So in short :

Screw True. They're accommodating for more customers than they can handle.

On the other hand, I've got another friend who's on True and also plays WoW, and he's consistently getting like 250-400ms. True have also failed to make a comment about this phenomenon. Maybe they just don't like me. :o

Hmm, might be location, ya think?

I'm living in Ratchada, so prolly loads of other people hogging the line. Might move to somewhere more remote. :o

Hmmm I am also living on Ratchada and have the same problems from 1800 till midnight as well. And all I want to do is listen to the radio from the Netherlands at 96 kbps! I am paying for 2.5 mbps to True. The same radiostation used to work perfectly fine from 1999 to 2002 when I had dialup!

Don't forget that your distance from your telephone exchange (the exchange to which you are connected) will determine the "speed" of your service. The greater the distance, the less the speed (ADSL).

I wonder if you have problem logging in due to the extra unordinary high ping.

As well as disconnected every now and then.

But then again, my house is far from the Telephone Exchange.

I wish I can get my hand on True's fiber optic services.

Maxnet Premium 1024/512 here near Chiangmai and playing WoW (European server) I have rarely a better ping than ~600-800ms. At the moment I'm levelling up a warlock as it's the only thing I can do. Forget Karazhan and any other HL dungeon with my other 5 lvl 70 characters.

I'm collecting plants and flowers.... it's so romantic. :o

This really sucks.

It lags so bad, when I do flybys for mining nodes on my epic mount, sometimes the node only 'spawns' just after I flyby it. Or I might've actually flew by a bunch without knowing that the node was there. A few times, I thought I saw the 'detect minerals' node flash on my minimap, I had to fly back to where I thought it was, wait ~5secs before the node magically appeared at where I was standing.

WoW aside, anyone knows how to determine where these elusive 'Telephone Exchange' are? I'm living pretty close to the True building, on a 3mb line... and the lag is insane.

p.s. PvPing as Rogue is next to impossible. 'Out of range', 'Too far away', etc. Never managed to gouge/stun anyone running through me. I tried lolstep build.. I'd teleport to where the guy was... 5 secs ago. There was a story about how I jumped off a tower, guy jumped after me... and I teleported back onto the tower...

*sigh*

I never play both my warrior and rogue anymore as it's impossible, only crafting allowed. Apart the warlock I play sometime the shadow priest and the mage for some farming and high lvl crafts. But WoW in Thailand is a pain in the a**. Casters remains playable but will never engage in a battleground or a dungeon though.

Anyway I'm playing for fun now, when it's to hot outside and nothing to do at home. WoW is a nice game but becoming a nolife for this game is not on my agenda.

Ive just got into it and am playing as a hunter on the Nagrand server, I know I lag but use lots of ice traps etc so I've been doing pretty well in PVP (top 3-4 damage) with 600-800ms pings on a 2meg TOT adsl line. Just adapt playing style to overcome lag issues. I avoid melee at all costs!!
