I also rescued this little devil. He had slid down between two water pipes and got stuck. Lord knows how long he had been there. His skin was almost welded to the pipe in the heat. I managed to free him though he looked pretty pissed off. I've seen him running around the garden since so he's o.k. but I guess he could have starved to death had he not been released.

The spider is a type of Haplopelma ('Chonabot' on this forum would be able to identify it more accurately).

It's not dangerous but does have a nasty bite and the poison from it may put you in quite a lot pain. They are notoriously bad tempered spiders, and also very quick so best you keep your distance.

It looks identical to one that bit my toe as I put my boots on - no worse (for me) than a small scorpion sting or a wasp sting.
