Hello other Thailand lovers,

Stil not known here... i'm Bart 21 and living in the Netherlands. I was in Thailand 1 month ago and i did meet my girlfriend there, she is very kind and loving to me. (She is for real, it's not about a money question or something also not the looks ) She is 30 age. I had to leave her way to soon :D , it all went to fast for me and her, but i'm going back there in Juli/August to talk things out and see her again, cause we can't miss each other. We call and e-mail many times a week. Still not nowing about the future plans i have to talk about it with her. Does she come over here, or do i stay there we don't know. I do know that it's a better future here in the Netherlands, but not as nice climate and i love Thailand :o !

So i need some advice of you guys here, wat do you think?

I have some general questions:

- She want to come over here after i been there, but wat are the problems i am facing with visa and stuff? ( It's only for short stay for now ). I was thinking because i live close to Germany, to let her land there at an aiport like Dusseldorf and pick here up there. But i don't know Germans regulations about Thai people if it's better or worse then in the Netherlands. I can drive from Germany over the border to the Netherlands there is no problem. So i'm thinking about avoiding Dutch goverment. :D

- If i want to stay there, can i get a job /house to stay? I'm a mechanical engineer and car-engineer.

- I want to leave from Dusseldorf to Bangkok in Juli/August with LTU, do i need a return ticket? Or can i buy it over there in Thailand to?

- I thought flying from Germany with LTU is the cheapiest, or is there another way? ( Not from the Netherlands, will cost me over 1000 euro retour ticket. ) Landing: Suvarnabhumi

- Do you guys have some great tips for me wat i can do with here in the time i'm there around BKK ( not neseccary). We like to do activity and some sports and a quit romantic place offcourse.

- I cant call here in some way? Her mobil starts with 08.. and country number is 0066. Tried some combinations but it doesn't work, but she can call me. :D

No further questions on my mind now. Thanks for your time!

If you are serious and not spamming and because you are a

fellow countryman I will try to give some , perhaps valuable advise .

First of all you got to know your lady a bit better , Thai ladies especially .

come and try to stay for at least half of a year , take a double or triple tourist visa with you ,

If your relationship still goes well , try to come and go for a while ,

save some money , and make a decision . Finding a job here and open

a business is very hard work and difficult to achieve , especially at your age .

On the other hand a lot depends on your girlfriend of staying in Nederland .

If she is not the girl expecting riches just yet , who knows that will a better choice ,

but how you can tell after 1 month........ .

Enough said.

Posted

I am in Pattaya and my phone number starts with 08 as well. but people calling me from overseas have to take the 0 off, so you dial +66 8............ whatever. good luck.

My advice for you is to take things very slow you must get to know her a lot better .Do a search on here I posted a topic on having problems calling my girl friend got some great advice.Ignore all the crap posts you might get some folk have to much time on their hands. It might be more easy to get her a visa from the dutch goverment . I think your job is on the list where we not allowed to work by the Thai goverment I might be wrong.

Ok, let me bite, fellow countryboy :D

1. keep your job for the time being !

2. forget about her coming to Holland, check website www.ind.nl about visa & immigration; VERY difficult for you to get her on a plane to Holland; Embassy in BKK will NOT believe her & you, being serious, unless you are in a more -much longer- serious relationship. So far, YOURS is just a holiday love affair.

3. if you fly from Dusseldorf, no problem with visa if you stay less than 30 days; beyond that: get a visa in Amsterdam first, showing a return ticket; no return ticket: no visa.

4. you can NOT work in Thailand ! (unless lots of problems and experience); FORGET working in Thailand !

5. You are 21, she is 30; think twice......you're too young to commit (but obviously too much in love to talk sense OUT of you.... :D )

6. If you talk to her, FORGET phoning by mobile = too expensive; instead try 0900-1445 and than the nr. from a normal house-phone OR use Skype on your computer.

7. WHERE did you meet and under WHAT circumstances ? What job does she have ? Did you meet her family and where ?

8. Read more about Thailand, use your brains and be careful !

9. I repeat: FORGET bringing her to Holland for at least a year or so; she will get (if.....) just a tourist visa, nothing more and she will only get one if she has prove of assets, a house or a child in order to have a guarantee (for the Dutch Authorities) that she will return to Thailand.

10. Think with your brain, not your.......

I wil try the + sign, didn't do that. But can i dial + with normal phone instead of mobile?

Offcourse i want to know her better, that's why i want to go back. ( You know how hard it is to miss each other long time ) I don't have problems with budhism or whatever thai culture.. ( but she is quite modern, no so religious depend )it's just the distance and time that's the problem now...

@ Tijnebijn: I'm very serious.. Sorry for the spam ? There are some problems to be solved, because she is a freelance and works with tourists as a guide, she travels many. And by time visit her parents in the South, Pattani. But things can be changed..so she is not so worry about it. She doesn't have to send money or anything like that! She really cares for me and i for her, we schared money expenses when i wass there.

About the Visa, i wass thinking for the short stay for now, if it could work via Germany? ( Easier rules for Thai people ?) Long stay has to be Dutch i understand.

Everybody thanks for your effort!

(If you are not a Troll) Go studying and then working. As your ages old, you had better study hardly. Next, how much of your salary?? as I know Dutch Government has a rule as you guys need to have ad least 1500-1800 EU (not sure about the number but something likes that) so you can be a sponsor for 3rd world girls. Finally, your 30's GF need to pass the dutch language examination in her country at the dutch embassy before getting MVV

All the answers to your questions can be found on Thai Visa forums but it will take a bit of time and research.

I brought my Thai GF to France after only being together for a few months. Its a Shengen Visa and will be good for all the Shengen countries. You will have to show some documents about your work, financial situation and living environment. Don't try do it in another country. Just do it in the country you live in and be honest.

I know its tough being apart but don't rush into anything. I had a long term relationship with my Thai GF for nearly a year. Then I decided to move to Singapore which is very close to Thailand but also allows me to carry on my career.

Bonne Chance!

With a normal phone, you will need to dial the international access code for your country instead of +. For example, if the international access code for Netherlands (or perhaps your phone company) is 001, you would dial 001 66 8 (mobile phone number). Obviously leave out the 08 part of your girlfriend's number.

buy a KPN phone card and dial her from a public telephone

you are an engineer, figure it out

If she is employed and have bank account etc. it should not be impossible for her to get a Schengen visa (tourist). This covers Germany, Netherlands and other.. Look on the Dutch consulate website in Thailand, you will find a list of documents and requirements there for Thai citizens.

Among these requirements is proof of medical insurance cover outside Thailand for a substantial amount.

Good luck..

I think that your problem is that you cannot know this person until you spend more time with her. Cross-cultural relationships take more work than other relationships, and you need to make sure that you can communicate on a meaningful level. To do this you need to not only share a language but also understand where each other is coming from. You can not do this via telephone or email, and it can only be done face to face.

You seem to be developing feelings too quickly, and you seem too eager to take huge risks for someone you don't seem to know very well. If you are legit then I suspect that you will do your own thing anyway. I suppose whatever happens it will be a learning experience for you.

Did we get answers from the above question?  Maybe they got deleted or maybe the OP hasn't answered them yet, but these are important questions that need to be answered.

You are an engineer and can't figure out how to call Thailand??? Come on....you can't be for real. If you are for real then one word of advice: Slow down, take things much slower. It is much to soon to think about taking someone to Europe that you have only known for one month.

Bartman, you've got the donkey in front of the cart.

Don't plan a thing, don't make a move until you come back here. It's a very old story, the guys that go away with "a girlfriend" left behind, and when the guys come back, (lo and behold !) she's found someone else.

Don't be heartbroken Bartman, there are hundreds more, and you should find a younger gal anyways......

She can speak english almost fluent, meet her in the beginning of a tour, where she was the guide.

She is Buddhist.. but only means she is not so serious about it. Nothing to do with Islam, just her parents living there. And 2 brothers she has, by coincendence also studying mechanical engineer. Before working with tourist, she worked as a receptionist. I'm going to ask her again about work history and now, no worry. Will take it easy.
