adjan jb
Here is a new game called 'What's this artwork ?" (It's based on Neeraman's "What's the City") All you do is post a photo of a more or less famous artwork (painting, sculpture,...) not a portrait of your mother in law tending the sick buffalo Clues can be given or not. If no-one guess, you can post a photo of another artwork by the same artist. Here is the first one. Sorry this pic is a tad small but that the biggest I found on Goggle. Reason for edit: add a rule and apologize for the small pic. Edited April 3, 2008 by adjan jb
LeungKen
Do we have to guess the artist and the title ? What about the date and where the painting (artwork) is at currently ? I could really get into this thread if the picture was a bit bigger. Just for fun I will say :- Rupert Bunny (Australian 1864 - 1947) and the picture hangs in the National Gallery of Victoria

Otherwise I guess it's too difficult (any imput appreciated) A French painter born in 1780. This oil on canvas was painted in 1808 and it hangs in the Louvre. Tony Clifton
I am fascinated by this one. The Louvre's website had it featured a while ago and it could be looked at using a virtual magnifying glass. Amazing detail. That's "The Milkmaid" painted by Johannes Vermeer between 1658-1660. Rijksmuseum - Amsterdam Tony: Correct and well done ! (Tamara de Limpicka's painting) Tony2: I feel frustrated since I can't recall the name of the painting and painter..... But, I will soon come with an answer Jan van Eyck, a Dutch painter, painted 'your' painting around 1435 and is called: "Madonna of Chancellor Rolin" Jan van Eyck is even more famous for this painting: The Arnolfini Portrait LaoPo Edited April 3, 2008 by LaoPo
