Mary Cassat - Offering the Panal to the Toreador, 1873

Correct; not one of her better works though.... :o

Her other oeuvre has a much softer touch.

Behind these shutters is a very famous painting

Here is a new game called 'What's this artwork ?" (It's based on Neeraman's "What's the City")

All you do is post a photo of a more or less famous artwork (painting, sculpture,...) not a portrait of your mother in law tending the sick buffalo :D

Clues can be given or not. If no-one guess, you can post a photo of another artwork by the same artist.

Here is the first one.

Sorry this pic is a tad small but that the biggest I found on Goggle.

Reason for edit: add a rule and apologize for the small pic.

Queen Mary :o

I think you guys need to get out of your comfort zone...something more contemporary.

Artist is easy, title may be a little tougher.

What's the painting called and painted by whom ?

post-13995-1207318818_thumb.jpg

It is believed that this Lady was the model for one of the most shocking paintings in the 19th century....

If this is guessed I can post a link to that painting as Thaivisa will probably not allow the image to be posted here :D , although it is one of the most beautiful nudes I have ever seen... :o

La Belle Irlandaise (portrait de Joanna Hifferman) by Courbet. Actually I wanted to post a pic of L'Origine du Monde instead of Botero. It is my favourite painting. A masterpiece.

Edited by adjan jb

This is the same Lady, however, painted by a different painter:

post-13995-1207319666_thumb.jpg

BUT: I am NOT asking about this painting...it's just the same Lady.

Well done adjan jb. You are correct.

This is the link for "L'Origine du monde"
