The painter had a Master and his name was not van Dyck or van Dyke... :o

LaoPo

Thanks for the clue. It's Rubens, Infante Isabella Clara Eugenia.

Very well. Your turn Maestro. :D

What is the name of the sculptor ?

An early Auguste Rodin ?

edit: NO, not from Rodin...

you almost fooled me.... :o

It's "The Bronze Waltz"

It's sculpted by his lover and protege Camille Claudel. Her life is a tragic story.

Just the artist will do. Known for his drawings and sculpture...so one of each.

I love his work !

That art is from Alberto Giacometti, (October 10, 1901 – January 11, 1966) was a Swiss sculptor, painter, draftsman, and printmaker.

The drawing is called: Diego seated, 1949

and

The sculpture is called: Man pointing, 1947

:o Frog....?...what frog ?

I can't see it on your images but the original painting is very large*, so it must be quite a frog :D

Can you point me where this frog is ?

* 208 × 265.5 cm or 81.9 × 104.5 inch

Edit:

Now that you mentioned it, I can see the vague shape of a frog on the low left corner; is that correct ? I have to go to the Musée d’Orsay, Paris one of these days to see that frog myself :D

LaoPo

Congrats! As I said, even curators had never noticed it when looking at the original! :D

Beware, it's a big file.

...Blank on that one LaoPo

Line work makes me think of Egon Schiele - kind of graphic in nature. It's the right time frame but definitely not his subject matter.

...hints? :D

Egon Schiele was just 28 when he died, only 3 days after is 6-months' pregnant wife died of the Spanish Flu in 1918, in Vienna. He was a protege of Gustav Klimt.

If he ever heard about the artist of 'my' image...I don't know but could have been possible.

He was born in the same time frame, 19th/20th century although in a different country than Schiele and he was also older and died later than Schiele.

'My' painter became very famous for a completely different style of art than the posted image and he died in America during WWII and left an unfinished -now- spectacular painting in his famous unrealistic style.

This is 'my' painter; again: very deceiving in style....and I had to cut a little from the bottom because his name was there :o

Piet Mondrian.

Although both drawings are not the same....

LaoPo

That why I posted it. I prefer "yours", "mine" is too dark.

I would not have found without your help. Thanks :o

My pic: you recognize the model, you know the painter. They are the same person.

It's not a big picture but that's the biggest one I found on Google.

1. Is this (from) a reasonably well known painter ?

2. From Europe ?

NOTE: how come I can't see your image anymore, when I quote your post....? :o
