chevykanteve
(The Nation - partial copy) General Sonthi Boonyaratglin was Bt5.6 million richer and his wife had Bt1.3 million more in assets when he left his post as deputy prime minister. However, it was not known if his "other wife" got richer or poorer as Sonthi failed to file with the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) a financial statement about her assets and debts. When Sonthi became deputy PM in October last year, a few days after his mandatory retirement as Army commander-in-chief, he filed financial statements for his two wives. Sonthi's wife Sukanlaya Boonyaratglin had assets worth Bt14 million and Piyada Boonyaratglin, the woman with whom he has been living, had Bt42 million. Sonthi is a Muslim. By tradition, Muslim men are allowed.................. When he left office in February, Sonthi had assets worth Bt44.4 million, according to information made available to the media by the NCCC.............. Dear God. That makes him look so evil, compared to the Shinwatras, whose wealth increased 3X by billions and billions of baht during their tenure excluding the massive windfall profits from selling their Shin company to the Singaporeans and breaching ownership law that they themselves set up (max 49% foreign ownership in telcos) by selling off 96%. Hmmmm...... and your point is what? After all....5.6 million baht...wow what a huge amount of corruption must have occured. Needless to say, I am outraged. Maybe General Sonthi should have put the assets in his maid's name and forgot about it. Let us know when Bluem fumbles a story about this in the BKK Post. tuky
Wouldn't that be the wage you'd expect a PM to be paid? He just saved it instead of spending it.

Jefferson
Sonthi should be on death row for treason. Simple as that. Money doesn't enter into it. Edited April 8, 2008 by Jefferson

I don't think he was the only one involved in this, probably acting on orders from somewhere, but not someting that can be discussed here.
