So here is a business idea for Thai VISA and a possible solution for us. Thai VISA hires a qualified and trustworthy representative at each and every entry and exit point to Thailand.

Do not want to carry 20,000 or 40,000 Baht when making that one day trip. No problem, you stop off at the THai VISA Border officer and make a deposit of the required amount that you will need in order to reenter (either 20,000 or 40,000 Baht based on family), taking only minimal amounts with you so as not be be in danger of being robbed etc. When you come back across the broder you call the service and they meet you at the border with the required funds. Charging you 500 baht for the service.

Need Travellers checks, nor problem, THAI Visa issues them at 500 Baht.

Let us say that you do not have the funds with you, do to not knowing of the policy, so you also go the Thai VISA Border point and make arrangement for a THAI Visa Bond, where THAI Visa will meet you upon your return into Thailand and then presents you with the cash for the purpose of showing it. Once the person has entered they must again return the funds to THAI Visa. 500 Baht charge and all are happy.

A potential loan service could also be available based on a manul processing and signing of a VISA Or MasterCard receipt. Again a 500 baht charge.

Total potential income before expenses could exceed more than 500,000 a day. Formula is 20 border points times 50 people taking advantage times the 500 baht fee.

Consider daily costs of 5,000 Baht a day to cover the employees and the small offcie and you are talking about a susbstantial business.

Come Doc and George! You could even offer Internet Access at each location.

ME? I'm retired and enjoying it.

Breaking News: A Thai Visa agent has reportedly been shot and robbed of 850,000 baht at (enter your favorite border crossing here).

Why are you guys always so negative about everything. Especially you Rainman. You state that you made a lot at an early age..... then why the pessimism?

It is an idea that could work for someone. With fee adjustments, possible losses and operating costs it could be a nice little business for someone with the ability to think and change according to the wind.

To avoid theft/robbery you set it up with bulletproof glass and with the same security afforfed a bank i.e. nect to a Police Station or a Immigration Police Office. :D:D:o

BUT mouse they(police /immigration) might well be the buggers robbing ya for all the loot.

cos lets face it they do have big shiny guns and very tight uniforms (bit like the italian army )

Seems like a lot of effort and possibly a largish cash risk for minimal returns... Doable but not appealing..

On the subject of Italian military, I swear this is not a joke and is 100% true, there was an advert in the Exchange and Mart (a UK classified advert paper) selling Italian infantry rifles with the tagline 'never fired' :o one step away from the only dropped once oldie.

I just hope the Thai Mafia are not reading all these posts and planning

regular taxation posts close to all the land borders.:o

Set George up with ice, Chang, a nice deckchair, and a broad rimmed hat and he might run one for you. Diners Club and Amex started small. :D

Think of it : "DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT ........ THE GEORGE CARD"

or if it really catches on maybe "THE ST. GEORGE CARD" ..

The logo could be a St. Bernard with a keg of Chang around the neck >>>>

I reckon you'll get him with all those entitlements and a comfort zone. It'll give him a chance to top up at the self esteem pump too. :D

i just don't trust anyone. is that a crime? :o plus, you have to agree that a single person carrying around this amount of money at the border (unless he runs to a "safe-house" every 5 mins) is a very good target for local criminals.
