Hrh Princess Galyani Vadhana

Featured Replies

As we all know (or maybe not), did HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana, the Kings' older sister, pass away on the 3rd of January 2008 at 2:54 a.m.

Usually there is a ceremony after 100 days and initially it was the Royal House's and Government's planning to take care of things on the 12th of April, but since the 300 million Baht "shrine" isn't ready yet, the ceremony is postponed until May.

Does anyone know more about this and will there be a national day of mourning, government offices and banks closures, bars closures as well as another alcohol ban maybe?

This ia serious question, not asking for offensive posts!!

There is an article about the crematorium being built for HRH Princess Galyani, in the current Bangkok Post edition http://www.bangkokpost.com/News/07Apr2008_news06.php, which states that the cremation, at least, is planned for October. Apparently, the cremation can take place on a day chosen by the King after the 100 days mourning period is over.

Thanks, as in most cases it will be something on a short notice. I'll wait and see.
