Pre-sliced Cheese Availability

Featured Replies

Aside from the expensive Kraft and Velveeta cheese slices available at the supermarkets, where can you buy those orange cheese slices used at burger joints?

I remember seeing a big block of pre-sliced orange-colored cheese behind the counter at Mike's Burgers...

So, where do these restaurants buy these cheese slices?

Certainly not from the supermarket!

From who? From where?

For bulk check out Makro. Seen it there.

Last week in Makro 84 burger cheese slicer were about 380 baht and a 5kg block of butter ranged from 530 to around 650 baht.

The cheese slices are OK but you may need 2 as they are a bit thin and the butter works out at about 26 baht for 250 grams instead of 75 baht.

Definitely worth it.

Went to Makro today and the stuff was definitely great if you buy in bulk.

1kg of bacon as low as 190 baht... or equivalent to 19 Baht/100g. In the mainstream supermarkets, it's about 30 Baht/100g.

Bought 1 kg and then individually packed it into about 20 portions of 2 strips per portion.

(For a bacon cheeseburger, 2 strips is all I need. If I'm having it for breakfast, I'd need 4 strips so I'll just defrost 2 portions instead of 1.)

The butter was cheap too if you were to buy 5kg but I live alone and my fridge ain't that big!!! Does butter spoil?

As for the cheese slices, 1 kg was 339 baht... that's clearly cheaper than the 400/kg if you buy 500g of 24 Imperial cheese slices. However, for the bulk purchase at 339, it was only the yellow colored cheese slices available... I like the orange colored ones which are usually saltier.
