Accident Woman Dies After Falling from Mangosteen Tree — Loyal Dog Stays by Her Side
Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A 66-year-old woman lost her life after falling from a mangosteen tree while harvesting fruit in her orchard in Nakhon Si Thammarat. In a poignant scene, her loyal dog refused to leave her side after the fall. The incident occurred on the afternoon of 12 July in Moo 2, Suan Khan Subdistrict, Chang Klang District. Officers from Chang Klang Police Station, along with medics from Phor Than Klai Wajasit Hospital and rescue workers from the Tai Tek Siang Tung Foundation, responded to reports of a fatal incident in a fruit orchard. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the lifeless body of Ms Pranee, lying beneath a mangosteen tree over 10 metres tall. A visible depression in the soil indicated where she had struck the ground. Nearby, a bamboo ladder was found leaning against the tree and a fruit-collecting bag containing 3–4 kilogrammes of freshly picked mangosteens remained hanging from the upper branches. Ms Pranee’s devoted dog, affectionately known as “Chao Uan” (Fatty), was found lying next to her body, guarding her faithfully and refusing to leave. Local authorities reported that Ms Pranee was unmarried and lived alone near her orchard, with relatives residing some distance away. She was known to harvest fruit daily to earn a living, despite the currently low market prices for mangosteens. Police believe she may have succumbed to heat exhaustion or fatigue, causing her to lose her balance and fall. It is also suspected that the bamboo ladder may have been unstable. A neighbour discovered her body and immediately alerted authorities, though sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms Pranee’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and arrangements are being made for funeral rites. Adapted by Asean Now from Workpoint 2025-07-14 -

Accident Security Guard Leaps Into Pool to Save Drowning Teen
Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A security guard has been hailed a hero after diving into a swimming pool fully clothed to rescue a drowning schoolboy, who was later revived after being found without a pulse. The dramatic incident occurred around 13:40 on 13 July, at a housing estate clubhouse in Moo 5, Bang Duea Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pathum Thani Province. Police and emergency services rushed to the scene after being alerted by the estate’s security team. Rescue workers arrived to find a 15-year-old boy, identified as Anon, known to friends as “First”, unconscious by the edge of a 25-metre pool. He had been pulled from the water moments earlier by Mr Wichan Charoensat, a 49-year-old security guard who responded immediately after receiving an emergency call from clubhouse staff. According to witnesses, First had joined younger friends for a swim and was attempting to cross the pool when he began to struggle. At first, friends thought he was playing, but when he raised his hand repeatedly and began to sink, they realised he was in distress. Bystanders threw flotation devices into the water, but it was too late, the teenager slipped beneath the surface. In a swift response, Mr Wichan raced to the pool, leapt in without hesitation, and dove to retrieve the unconscious boy from the bottom. Once at the poolside, volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation began CPR, joined shortly after by medics from Pathum Thani Hospital. A heart monitor showed no signs of life, and CPR and AED, continued as the boy’s grandmother, relatives and friends watched in tears. In a moment of hope, rescuers detected a faint pulse. He was immediately transported to Pathum Thani Hospital for further treatment. One of the boy’s friends, 13-year-old Wanmai, explained that it was First’s first visit to the pool. “He said he could swim. He jumped in and tried to cross the pool, but only made it a few metres before struggling. At first, we thought he was joking, he’s always playful. But then he kept raising his hand. That’s when we panicked.” Mr Wichan, visibly moved by the incident, later recalled the moment he sprang into action. “I was on duty at the estate’s front gate when the clubhouse called. I ran straight there, saw the boy underwater and jumped in. I didn’t think twice. I just felt sorry for him. At that point, we didn’t know how long he’d been under or if he’d make it.” Police are continuing to investigate the incident and have praised the actions of both the security guard and rescue teams. First’s condition remains under close observation at hospital. Adapted by Asean Now from Workpoint 2025-07-14 -
