Hello people, im curious to know does thai families use nursing home services?

as far as i know, most of them takes care of their elderly (i think they are living together), and i often see them wheel chairing to restaurants and even overseas trip....omg)

can foreigners use these services? im not sure these care takers can communicate in english or whatnot. and i certainly dont want see them abusing the elderly. 

 

anyone or anyone u know use these nursing services in thailand and whats ur expereinces and prices if u dont mind sharing.

Some affluent families hire live-in retired nurses, who have to quit government hospitals at age 45. I understand they are 15,000 - 20,000 baht/month.

Getting guys to work at night always a prob 

In Bangkok, in middle class families they hire nursing care for the most, their children have jobs and their own families(they drop in daily) , the cost varies and the standard varies, my partners mother needed H24 care after an operation, through an agency they hired someone for 25 000. after 2 weeks she was sacked, if no one was around she basically stopped working and would do nothing she was asked to do, but when someone was around she would appear to help, though it was quite clear she had no nursing skills let alone training, from a more established firm the cost was 125 000 baht a month for 24 hour( not sure what nursing skills they had) fortunately her mother improved enough so care is not needed at the moment

The worker was entitles to a daily food allowance think it was 50 baht, remember most of these  people have no qualifications or experience, and there are a lot of Myanmar people employed in this filed, it is the same the world over who wants a job of looking after a strangers  elderly parents

What service you mean?

If you don't have a family with a handful of children I'd say NO.

But you can hire someone as your nurse.

Farangs using these services too, care homes, UK£ 2000a week ,here a month

I know of one relative that was placed in a care home for awhile but they eventually took her back out of it to save money.

Palliative care is available for the final run to the finish line.

      My Bangkok Thai relatives all have live-in help.  Spouse and I will probably also have live-in help at some point down the road--we're not at that point yet.  Likely will be cheaper than a nursing home and you can remain in your own home.  

im not in those ages yet, but looking at those nursing home fees and private helpers, i probably wont be able to afford and i dont want to waste that much on these places. 

they cant walk, get out of the bed by themsleves at these ages?

its just too unimaginable for me to pay up all these bills (which i dont have) which is way more expensive than during my flourishing lifestyle of 30-50s 

 

oh lord jesus, when i imagine my spouse passes away and im all alone, i cant imagine what i will be doing.

 

 

Poor peasants (everywhere in the world) solve the problem by having large families.

 

Here in south Surin, whenever my FIL or MIL (3 & c7 years older than me) get sick & need time in hospital, the assorted daughters, sons & grandchildren share guard duties and sleep beside or under the hospital bed.

There are several in home health care centers in Pattaya, as well as nursing homes. You just have to search for them online. I know a friend who lived in one for about 32,000 a month. Angel home care, or something like that, is a new one that offers service at your home and priced depending on what you need. They are around and speak English. You just have to look.

Korat has several nursing homes.
Not only directed to the "elderly", but also for disabled persons or revalidating persons.
The are quite good compared to the Western nursery homes and much more affordable.

Most of the people who are located there are Thais, but there are also foreigners.
One particular foreigner I knew, who was married to a Thai, went to such a home to live his final days after being diagnosed with Cancer.
Most of the homes are located nearby a hospital and offer medical care too.
The home where the foreigner used to spend his final days was like a small apartment and the rental price was 18,000 Baht.

Many many in CM area...  if you are looking for less expensive, maybe McKean is cheap?? If the name is correct.. often they can quote you a base line price then it goes up from there according to what services are needed... 2 people can share a room but it won't be cheap as it sounds like they will need lots of nursing care. It does seem to be a growing business here.

It sounds like those prices are dated... things are getting more expensive as inflation is everywhere, though nurses are not. In CM there is a nursing shortage. 

 

There are surely more than 10 places in CM now and quite a few are upper crust.

My one aunt is in a nursing home and it is much cheaper than any hospital or ome services.

  Just check around, and even go to a hospital and they should be able to give you some information.

My friend who is Thai employed a day nurse to look after her expat husband (came to the house 6 days a week) Don't know what the cost was

Keep CHF 20000 for an "exit" trip to Switzerland, BTW thats about the 800000 THB you must have for maintaining your visa here.

Yes,there,are and there are/were a few in Chiang Rai province that provide the care for foeighners.The packages are very reasonable and average price was around bht60000 per month with a Nurse by your side and with lots of amenities such as,swimming pools ,gyms,nature walks and Beutifal surroundings .

Unfortunately I can't give the name of the one I've visited as it was closed down due to the Air Pollution :(

There are quite a lot around the country and they are in Pattaya area too .
