Canadian Tourist Visa Denied

Featured Replies

Need some advise. Wanting to take my thai bf to Canada for a 3mo visit.

I send all the info they requested. along with a letter of guarantee to cover all expenses during his stay. I included my bank statements and all other docs they requested. In addition I deposited 40,000 thb in his bank account to show them he had his own funds.

He has traveled and returned to switzerland before with no problem.

He was denied for the reason "insufficeint funds of his own for his stay" Now he had 40,000bht showing in his bank but had a letter of guarantee from me to cover ALL expences for the entire trip and time of stay. When he asked how mush he had to have they said it was "subjective."

How to get him over here for three months? Is the fiancee visa an option for gay men in Canada?

They probably were also suspicious of a single large deposit of 40K baht into his account.

Are you from Canada? I don't know if they would allow a person who was not Canadian or a Canadian PR to sponsor a fiance visa.

I imagine since Canada allows gay marriage, that they should also allow gay fiance visas.

Here is a website that talks about it.

You think 40k will lead the Canadian Gov't into thinking that is sufficient funds?

I am afraid not....best bump that up a bit....more like 120K.

Promise to marry is just that...promise...it won't hold water with the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok.

It is easier to emmigrate that to visit....

I have never had a problem and have had 1 single, 1 multiple and another single visa issued...but it takes cash in her..well..in your case his.... :o ....bank....

  • 1 month later...

Key is to ensure that the Visa officer is convinced that the person has no intention of staying in Canada..............so base your case around that.
