For all of you planning a trip away to Europe or the UK soon, the bad news is that from 1st May ETIHAD are putting the fuel surcharge up by 5% and also all the fares by the same margin. We would recommend that if you have a trip already booked on Etihad somewhere that you make sure it is paid and ticketed by 30th April, or if you ar

e planning a trip then do it NOW! It is almost guaranteed that others will follow suit, and our bet is on Thai Airways doing the same.

It is all happening with Air Asia, not content with trying to raise money with "priority boarding" they are now going to CHARGE you for checking in any baggage for the hold! If you pay at the airport it will be THB 50 a piece, but if you pre-purchase when you buy your ticket you can book up to 3 pieces at only THB 30 each. Quite how they will collect money at the airport I have no idea since if you take you your golfclubs you have to go from check-in to the cashier desk to pay and then back to check-in! This is effective 21st April.

Lastly for today if anyone out there has booked to fly with OASIS Airlines from Hong Kong, take great care as they have gone down, and you will need to take steps to try and protect the money you have paid. We are told that other airlines will try and help out, but we think that self help may be more practical

Actually just visiting cathaypacific.com site yesterday, saw that they did some arrangement & extra flights to accomodate oasisHK passengers > :o nice to see, that even at the liquidation stage oasisHK behaved more graciously towards its passengers, than any other low cost carrier would, even if they just cancel 1 particular flight !

Actually both BA and Cathay Pacific are trying to re-capture the market share taken by Oasis.

That's why BA have come up with this:

A special fare from London Heathrow to Hong Kong of £194 one-way is available for sale from Thursday 10 April until Tuesday 29 April for travel up to 22 June 2008.

Customers can book with British Airways directly on ba.com or by calling 0844 493 0 787. Alternatively, they can book through a travel agent.

Conditions

The fare of £194 one-way is inclusive of all taxes, fees and charges and is for travel in World Traveller (economy).

Ticket restrictions apply and the fare is subject to availability.

It is available for sale from 10 April 2008 until 29 April 2008 for travel until 22 June 2008.

British Airways operates three flights per day to and from Hong Kong..

Proof of purchase of an Oasis Hong Kong Airlines ticket is not required.

Tickets are £250 the other way, including taxes and charges.
