Featured Replies

I have a 1 kilo piece of pork loin and don't know what to do with it !! it is frozen so i could throw it to the dogs and watch them try to eat it or i could...................................................( idea's in here please)

cheers

Cook long and slow in water - add cooked (tinned?) white beans, papprika and a few onions and garlic.

Long and slow....I would suggest apple juice or cider (no alcohol) instead of water....about 200-250 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 hours (covered)

Choose your spice/veggies according to your taste.

When done, shred the meat with two forks....pulled pork sandwiches :o

An addition of barbecue sauce mixed with the shredded pork is tasty....but I'm more of a purist.

Just a thought here.... could I roast the pork in the oven then make a sweet and spicy glaze for it then BBQ the pork so its nice and crispy??? None of the recipes on the internet are taking my fancy today..... :o:D

pork loin with mustard...got the recipie from a belgian neighbor in Jakarta...simply smother the meat with dijon mustard, wrap in foil and roast at medium/low heat. When done drain off the fat (now with dissolved mustard) into a mixing receptacle and whisk with a little cream; careful with temperatures so's the cream doesn't curdle. Arrange meat on serving plate and pour over the sauce. Not bad...

By the way...anyone able to find pork loin in a Thai wet market? I go and indicate the corresponding area on a human anatomy while making snorting sounds and just get a bunch of giggles... :o

I can't imagine why! :D

I always prefer pork loin, bbq with a soy sauce-based marinade. Here's a sample recipe, which can be made more asian by adding grated ginger root. I usually cook this on an outdoor grill, but, this recipe is for indoor roasting.

Marinade:

1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons cider vinegar

3 teaspoons lemon juice

1 teaspoon prepared mustard

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon celery seed

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 cloves garlic, minced

Steps:

In a small bowl, combine Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, lemon juice, mustard, salt, celery seed, pepper, and garlic. Place pork loin roast in a large plastic resealable bag and pour marinade over pork loin. Seal and marinate in refrigerator for 4-6 hours (preferably overnight).

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

Remove roast from bag, place in a roasting pan, and discard marinade. Roast pork loin at 325 degrees F for 30 minutes per lb, or until an internal temperature registers 160 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer. Let rest for 10 minutes. Serve with a BBQ dipping sauce.
