Well, speaking of educational integrity at the highest levels, a shill posting until recently on "behalf" of the TCT in the teacher's forum told us quite frankly that many of the questions on their bizarre qualification test were COPIED from master's level exams in foreign countries! Talk about missing the point in a major way! (to be fair, it's probably because there are no native speakers involved in writing this test of native speaking teachers, another bizarre yet unsurprising fact).

Remember quiet a few of these bangkok uni girls also work in Bangkoks finest adult establishments..... maybe it was also an offer made on her part to excel herself?

Yes,

I can't get my head around this somehow! - so she was forced to give him a bj in exchange for a better grade, or else she would get a bad grade if she didn't? The two are quite different configurations.

Forced???

Is this just a normal Business transaction.

She wants something, he wants payment! Yes or No??? Works the other way round!

Cash, BJ, Food! Just Bartering!

Sounds a bit fishy!

Gal not happy, Grade on offer not high enough?

Perhaps all her performances not up to much, just too lazy all round!

So started stirring the S++T.

Just an idea! :o

A few days ago another article describied widespread cheating in temple exams for monks

I read that then... and thought of making a thread for it... but then decided.....

Yeah, that article would have been banned from our Buddhism forum even without comments. It's already against forum rule as it is.

The whole world is going to dogs, so there.

I've just read a joke somewhere about future greenpeace protests. The joke was lame and not worth repeating, but the premise was that in the future we'll have clean streets, trees and parks everywhere, no pollution bla bla bla.

Who's gonna build all that? Those two whores who got their grades for blowing their teacher?

Seminar discusses Thammasat victims

At least 3 cases of sexual harassment against students by lecturers at Thammasat University have been reported over the past decade, according to a seminar on sexual harassment at universities yesterday. Malee Pruekpongsawalee, chairwoman of Thammasat University's Women and Youth Studies Programme, said there had been serious cases of sexual harassment prior to last month's scandal involving an engineering lecturer at the Rangsit campus. However, the university had failed to provide an effective mechanism for dealing with the cases, she said. Last month, Kamthorn Cherdchukiat was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a female student. The student said he approached her and offered her a good grade if she would agree to perform oral sex. Malee said one female student from the journalism and mass communication faculty had filed a complaint against a lecturer at the political science faculty who she said offered her a good grade if she agreed to masturbate him. The student refused and sought punishment for the lecturer. He was later placed under disciplinary investigation and dismissed. Another case involved a well-known male lecturer who asked a female student out and raped her in a car. She became pregnant and brought the matter to court. Malee said the lecturer was investigated and eventually fired.

And that is what has been reported. Good on these girls for having the bravery to do what they did. I hope this story runs and runs, because this is just the absolute tip of the iceberg in most academic institutions.

It's only a matter of time before either Farangs or the Burmese get blamed for all of this. :o

Oral sex invented by foreigners

In a bizarre statement today from Thailand's Culture Ministry regarding the recent incident at Thailand's prestigious Thammasat University involving a professor soliciting oral sex from a student in exchange for good grades, Culture Minister Somchai Readsalottaporn stated that without the encroaching Western culture on Thailand, the episode would not have happened. "The foreigners who bring their distasteful and decadent sexual practices to Thailand is at the core of the problem," related Somchai. He went on to say that, "Foreigners invented oral sex and Thais have succumbed to enjoying this dreadful act. Without the shameful spread of their culture, the abhorrent situation at Thammasat could have been easily avoided." When questioned about how the trend might be reversed, the Culture Minister suggested the installation of CCTV in every office in Thailand with a centralized committee reviewing the tapes on an hourly basis.

:D Good job you put the disclaimer SJ, as I'm sure a few would believe it. Mind you, when discussing the Culture ministry, anything is possible.

has been caught on tape for trying to molest and force his student into having sex with him at his office.

Where can I download the video?

Or at least pictures of the girl? It would be good to see if she was actually worth the risk.

Most normal guys (excluding homosexuals) would easily succumb to the advances of a young, sexy and slender uni girl (especially in their uniforms), and it would take much suppression of natural instincts not to.

This guy must have been quite a non-influential person--otherwise, we'd be hearing about how it wasn't true, he didn't do it and it was her fault.

Actually she should have taken pictures with her mobile phone and posted them on the internet with something like: Smallest member of the faculty!

I doubt her mobile phone camera had Macro setting :o

UPDATE.... He's been found guilty by the school and now the cops will prosecute him...

Sex-for-grades claim accepted

Lecturer has until end of June to appeal against findings; faces charges of molestation

The Thammasat University engineering lecturer accused of demanding oral sex for good grades has been found guilty through an internal inquiry.

Khlong Luang police will prosecute the teacher for sexual molestation.

However, Kamthorn Cherdchookiat can appeal yesterday's finding before the end of the month, Thammasat rector Sura-phol Nitikraiphoj says. No other students have filed complaints about the lecturer.

The internal investigation found the student had been awarded a C-plus grade in an electric-power course. Earlier reports suggested she was awarded a B.

The investigation recommended a code of conduct be written to prevent a repeat of the incident and that it state that any sexual contact between student and staff is considered the responsibility of the staff member and will result in their instant dismissal.

This is an interesting, and much debated, topic among U.S. universities, including where I worked before moving here... In the U.S., the university policies about such matters are all over the map, though they have generally been moving from almost nothing in past years to now most schools having some kind of policy.

A few campuses have adopted policies prohibiting "romantic" relationships between any faculty and students.

My former campus, and many others, stopped short of that and instead went with policies forbidding any such relationship when the faculty or administrator has an evaluative role over the student, such as being in their class during that time, or being a department head. However, under those policies, once the student is out of a professor's class, then they're no prohibition.

Some have even weaker policies that say, if a professor is having a romantic relationship with a student in his/her class, then they are supposed to bow out and leave the grading of that student to another professor (though how that would work, given the other professor would never have seen the student in class) was never quite clear....

In any case, despite the policies, there were still occasions where faculty were involved with students currently in their classes. And there were A LOT of cases where university students were involved with their professors, although not in their classes at the time...

In the U.S., the policies governing such matters typically must come from and be approved by the Faculty Senates, as opposed to the administration, because of traditions about faculty self-governance... Thus, as you could imagine, there was a certain reluctance among the faculty at large to tie their hands too tightly in such matters....

And, even if someone got caught red-handed or accused by the student, the chances of them being dismissed from their job, assuming they had a tenured teaching position, were pretty slim.... At-will lecturers, however, would have had no protection in such matters.

A female student who had to do a re-sit on a militery exam offered me a BJ to pass. Needless to say I had too much to lose so she got a slap instead. Anyone who compromises their position like thid deserves what they get. Lead by example.

I liked in the article on how it was quoted as "this was morally unacceptable"..

But it's ok to have a Army Officer murder a Police Officer, run away for a year, return, have the charges dropped and within a short period of time regain your rank back into the military.....

I guess killing is more acceptable than a BJ.. :o

Sorry...

end of rant.

I hear you on the killing, but in this case it wasn't just a BJ, but sexual coercion and abuse of power.

Good for you. It's great to hear someone with ethics. I have no respect for anyone who would abuse their position of authority like that, or any one who would lower themselves to use sex to gain a credential.

Darn right, hope you didn't stop at a slap though. What about a knee to the groin?

As a follow-up, it's Adios, Ajarn...

and oh, btw, the police would like a word with you now that the university investigation is finished...

Thammasat lecturer sacked

Thammasat University yesterday fired the engineering lecturer who was accused in April of asking a female student to perform oral sex on him in exchange for a better grade. University Rector Surapol Nitikraipoj said an inquiry confirmed that Kamthorn Cherdchukiat, 33, was guilty as charged and that he had approached more than one student. The inquiry reported its finding on Monday and recommended the lecturer be dismissed, effective April 24 when he was suspended from duty, one day after he was charged by police. As a consequence, Kamthorn cannot apply for a job at any public institution. The university did not hand down the harshest punishment, which is dismissal without a severance package, because of a lack of crucial evidence. "Police investigators did not allow the university access to the recording of the teacher approaching the student at his office, because release of the evidence might compromise the criminal case police are bringing against him," he said. The third year student in April filed a complaint with police, who arranged for her to wear a spy camera to the lecturer's office.
