Hong Kong For Non-o Multiple Entry

Featured Replies

I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong in a few weeks, and as my previous 1-year multiple-entry non-O visa (based on marriage) has expired, I was hoping I might be able to get another one from the Thai embassy there. I didn't see any recent posts regarding Hong Kong, but some older posts indicated that the Thai embassy there is not friendly and probably will not issue such a visa, even with the required paperwork. If this is the case, I will plan a 3-way trip via KL, although it would be more convenient if this wasn't necessary.

Related to the above, has anyone had any trouble using copies of bank statements from their bank accounts (non-Thai) and using them to meet the 400K baht requirement? This worked fine for me last year in KL, but since they make the rules up as they go along, I figure it couldn't hurt to ask if anyone else has had any recent trouble in this area.

They are helpful and friendly and I have used them before for tourist visas. Last time I asked - about 18months ago - I was told they only issue 3 month single entry non-Os.

In the current climate I doubt that that has changed.

They only have a consulate no an embassy. Their we bsite is:-

Suggest you E-mail them.

They do issue multiple entry non-immigrant visa (O & B ), I asked them earlier this month as I was thinking to renew my O there before I changed my mind. However I'm a HK resident and therefore have a HK ID card and I'm sure it helps a lot. Don't know if they will issue to non residents, but you can call or email them, they don't bite and are friendly. The person to contact is Mrs. Wong at (+852) 2532-5118 or email them sthai01 (at) thai-consulate.org.hk

They told me to bring: financial evidences, letter from my HK company, copy of my HK ID card (+ the usual stuff: marriage certificate, wife ID card...).

Thank you both for the information. Glad to hear the staff at the HK consulate are not unfriendly. I will contact them and see what they say. If there is a way for me to get a 1-year multiple-entry visa through them, I'll report back here.

Just following up on this in case anyone else is interested. I contacted the consulate in HK and was informed that it would not be possible to get anything more than a 3-month single-entry visa (based on marriage) from them. Moreover, despite the fact that I am affiliated with a firm based in HK, they are also unwilling to issue anything more than a 3-month single-entry visa for business purposes as well. So I'll plan a side-trip to Malaysia and hope the officials at the embassy there are less xenophobic.

So it seems that as long as you are not a HK resident you won't get any multiple entry visa there.

Which I suppose is consistent with the idea that it's usually easier to get a visa in your 'home' country...

I suppose that is the official position of the Thai government. Did you perhaps move to Thailand because of your love of rules and regulations, or are you perhaps an unofficial mouthpiece for them?

At least a few of us would like to be saved the time and expense involved in traveling halfway around the world just to renew a visa. In fact, that seems like one of the primary purposes of this web site...
