Hey, I am looking for traditional cat breeders in Bangkok. So far it's been pretty difficult to find, a lot of numbers are dated. Do any of you know of siamese,korat, khao manee breeders around Bangkok?

Afraid I don't, but I'd like to put in a plug for strays. Obviously they won't have papers, but stray/abandoned cats which to all appearances are Siamese can be found. About a year back I had a stray Khao Manee cat who gave birth to some gorgeous classic Khao Manee kittens. Since adopted but it actually took me a while to find them homes, and the SCAD website periodically has some (both Siamese and Khao Manee) for adoption. Suggest you check out their pics and maybe email them of your interest so they can contact you as soon as they have one.

A pedigree is just a piece of paper (and, in Thailand, not always a rerliable one), the cats you get from breeders are never as strong and healthy as those conceived au naturel, and you'd be giving a home to a cat/kitten in need....

actually a friend of mine wants to help with the conservation efforts of the dwindling number of pure thai cat species (are a national heritage) many of which are already extinct - why not try to save a species than one animal? thanks for the scad plug though, i have been seeing it here a lot...

Any large book store will have magazines for various breeds, usually its dogs but there could be cats in there as well, in the back it will list breeders. Not sure if they will have what you are looking for but it is worth checking out.

As to the disappearing breed idea, well, what do you think the cats are that LOOk like Khao Manee? Are you aware of how breeds have developed over the years? Perhaps by saving a cat that looks like a Khao Manee you are actually saving a Khao Manee.
