Internet With Lap Top And Mobile

Featured Replies

Does anyone have information on accessing the internet using a mobile phone connected to a computer? I'm looking for options outside of bangkok. Is this service available anywhere there is a mobile phone signal? What companies offer it and how much? Thanks!

Easy to do, all you need is a GPRS capable mobile phone (get one with bluetooth !). The GPRS coverage is very broad in Thailand, but its not everywhere (if you're in Chiang Mai they have it !).

AIS has the best coverage, I think I saw a page describing coverage on their website somewhere once, but you can probably just ring up and ask. Also DTAC and Orange. AIS charge 1 baht per minute of access, or you can subscribe to a data plan where you buy a certain number of hours per month (see rant here, then see other rant about reliability). These are quite cheap (starting at 30 baht for 2 hours of access, and going up to something like 400 hours).

Lots of GPRS threads in here.
