Christmas Holidays

Featured Replies

hi all. am thinking about a trip to an island in december. have been living up here in chiang mai for 6 years and (shamefully) have never been south of Bangkok. :o I'll be travelling with my Thai hubby and our 2 boys (4yrs and 1yr). We're looking for somewhere quiet, peaceful, and cheap. A family kind of place, can be rustic, but must be beautiful, quiet and safe for the kids to play. Any ideas???

thanks

too true

Well, parts of Koh Phangan would be great (pm me if you plan on coming, I can give you some advice). Koh Lanta is also good I have heard (never been tho, going to other islands is not my idea of a holiday :o ). Be warned, Xmas is the peak season down here. And at least for Koh P, the full moon party falls on Boxing Day so everything could be packed out.

And to be honest, at least here, there really isn't a whole lot of Xmas spirit going around. Most people who travel here that time of year seem to be because they want to avoid Xmas, I haven't had a Christmas at home in 13 years and boy do I miss it! I put up a little plastic tree and my husband and I buy each other gifts but it just isn't the same. My little nephew came over with my sister a few years ago and that was great but it's been a big drought ever since!
