Sopranos - Now You See It, Now You Don't

I watched the last three episodes of the fifth series last night - where all-out war between the New York and New Jersey families almost breaks out when Tony B murders one of the NY gang. My God. A fantastic few episodes, especially the scenes immediately after Adriana tells Chris she's been talking to the FBI. Now that is drama!

Another great HBO series worth watching is the Wire. Gangsters, murder, drug dealing, cops etc.

I agree. I watched the last show of season 6 last night and can't wait for season 7. Vic is my hero! :o

(Sorry, this is the Shield, but the Wire is supposed to be quite good too).

Hehe, I think you're getting "the wire" and "the shield" mixed up, but yeah the shield is a great show too and Vic is a fun cop to watch.

There's some great hair in the Sopranos. Paulie always reminds me of the grandad character from the Munsters and Silvio's 'syrup' conjures up images of Homer Simpson's possessed wig from one of the Treehouse of Horror episodes. And, that's only the blokes.

Those might be season 2's best episiodes. Call me sentimental but I always get a warm and fuzzy feeling whenever The Sopranos gather for weddings or even boat trips.

Hey hey i saved the world today

Everybody's happy now

The bad things gone away

And everybody's happy now

The good thing's here to stay

Please let it stay

I thought it was funny that I read that Thailand was complaining that the US kept them on the list of the worst of the worst IPR violating countries. They aid that they been doing so much to prevent it. :D Walk down many streets and you see fake ones everywhere. Go to Fortune town or any other hi-tech mall and see store after store selling fake cds, movies and software. I think until these are cleaned up, they are going to be on the list.

Most tv stations and local cable TV are piracy champs as well.

What can you do when cable is owned by a judge? :o

Given that most American kids are downloading the same content for free on bit torrent, methinks the Americans complain too much as they know they can't get their own house in order, so point the finger anywhere else they can think of.

At least with the DVDs pirated over here, there is a bit of branding; I can get all the exact same content for free 100% online and it isn't even restricted; hel_l i can get EVERYTHING.

Even porn.

The size of pirated DVD content in Thailand I would bet is several times smaller than the illegal downloading market in USA that the same IP "professionals" have done little to stop over the last few years.

Also good is The Unit, Heroes, The 4400, Battlestar Galactica (new ones), West Wing, Life on Mars (cant find it over here though) and most definately The Shield. But I have to say in the big scheme of things the Sopranos is sitting on the top of the heap.

My biggest surprise was how good Battlestar Gallactica was. A friend gave them too me and I sat on them for months thinking it would be all spandex and bad hairdo's a la the 80's series. Then with nothing to watch I sat down and became hooked in 1 episode. There is a miniseries that kicks it all off and that doesnt seem to be available over here. Really very good, and covers a great deal of todays political issues.

I was surprised by Battlestar Galactica too, the latest series is fantastic.

The Wire is amongst one of the best series I have ever watched as well, from start to finish it was excellent television.

Thanks for the replies and interesting to hear about other series that you enjoy. For me, 6 Feet Under was a classic HBO production of the highest order and is sadly missed.

I know that in all probability, Turd Visions themselves haven't a clue what is happening with their scheduling, but i'm still holding on to the hope that someone we'll come forward and tell me that Sopranos is just being put on hold for a short while. If not, looks like i'm due a trip to one of our friendly but dodgy DVD purveyors!

Im not sure what the OP is talking about, to be honest. It was definitely on HBO on Monday evening.

Me too, best US telly programme since Soap.

Does the Sopranos end in the States or is there more seasons to come?

Season 6 has been billed as the final season :D Probably true now that some of the main characters are now sleeping with the fishes.

Favourite episode anyone??? Too many to choose from but one that sticks out for me is the one with Paulie and Chrissie stranded in the forest after chasing (and killing????) the Russian gangster. Classic :o

Ended a while ago with a season finale. There will be no more.

Have you looked in next month's magazine? If it's correct, the one you saw on Monday was the last one they'll be showing.

I want to thank the OP for pointing out that The Sopranos are not on the May schedule. Watched the end of season 2 on Monday night at it was great! Today I am the proud owner of seasons 3 through 6, great video and sound, from MBK.

True Visions probably runs the DVD counterfeiters too. Letting me preview the Sopranos on their system is pure genus from a marketing standpoint. I also have future seasons of Las Vegas, "24", CSI Miami, Dexter here in my home with my personal favorite Boston Legal. Pure marketing genus! Thank you True Visions for furthering the piracy of copyrighted material in Thailand by buying series that are a year to 10 years old to show us suckers who pay for your service. Now can you get your bosses at CP to get some rice for the poor people that would be nice too.

that one was a classic, also the one where Tony, Paulie and Chris go to Italy is one of my favorites

At the risk of waking up next to a horse's head in my bed, (which, if I'm being honest, would probably be less scarey than some of the women that's been there), :o can I ask where is MBK? Don't know BBK very well, and I'd like to check out what they have, especially if they're good recordings.

A truly wonderful British series from Channel 4, I can wholeheartedly recommend is Shameless, which features the goings-on of the benefit claiming Gallagher family from Manchester. Absolutely hilarious, though NOT for the prudish. Haven't seen it yet in Thailand, but I always buy the new series when I'm in the UK, currently on season 5. Unmissable.

Get the skytrain to National Stadium station. From there you can't miss it.

Good news for the OP, the second series is to be shown commenceing Monday 9 July at 10pm.

Seems they just took an end of season break, just like they do in the US.

Problem now is it clashes with the new series of House so I'll have to check that my old VHS recorder still works this weekend.

Weeds is up there with the best of them

Life On Mars is available on the food by phone website

weeds is brilliant. Nancy's character is really well drawn and acted.

Californication was pure genius though, still hoping for a second series
