Immigration Holiday

Featured Replies

Will Immigration (Suan Phlu BKK) be open on May 1??

opalhort

Afraid not,May 1st and May 5th both Holidays.The 1st is Labour Day,and the 5th is Coronation Day.Hope this helps.

Of course I know its labour day. The reason I asked is because it is only a private-sector holiday.

Our Khet, Revenue department etc. are all open but I'm not sure about IMM.

May 5 is of course a full holiday.

Any other closings of Suan Phlu office in the next week besides May 1st and 5th? Need re-entry permit and worried about the office at airport being on lunch break or something else as I have a past midnight departure! Thanks

After having tried for many days to contact Sun Plu ((02-287-3101...10) they never seem to pick up their phone!) I got info via 1111-Immigration that they will be open for business (all services) on May 1.

Verified this info by calling a subdivision at Suan Plu - they confirmed that it is business as usual on May 1.

Also confirmed is that they will be closed on May 5 and 19, 2008.

Late to this one, but on the immigration website they state that they are closed for public holidays. The link on the website is to the 2007 :o list but 1 May is not listed.

Thanks A_Traveller,

it appears that May 9 (Ploughing Ceremony day) is also a government holiday.

That's right. Government offices close for the Ploughing Ceremony and not for Labour Day.

would this be the same for jontiem pattaya ie open

It should be. As in USA, May 1 has always been considered too much a communist holiday for government to observe it.

^^ This falls into the :o category, the link to Pattaya Immigration from the official site fails and ends up at a 'search portal' LINK the new wizz-bang site from Pattaya Immigration has a Yellow Pages driven map [LINK] but no times and on contact us [LINK] it simply says during office hours.

Regards

PS May 1 has never been an official holiday given its link to Communism, {No I'm not making this up} and so is not observed by Government Offices, however the reintroduced auspicious ploughing ceremony is a defined public holiday.

PPS See Lop sneaked in when I was a'linking

The question was would Pattaya Immigration be open on May 1 and I believe I answered it and gave the reason.

I called immigration Bangkok

and they said that nation wide

all the immi offiches are open

on the first of may.

labour day or not

I called immigration Bangkok

on the first of may.

labour day or not

I thought that they were also going to rename Thursday to Tuesday this year just to make sure that its easier for everybody to understand.

1st May immigration open but bank close

5th May immigration and bank close

9th May immigration close but bank open

1st May immigration open but bank close

5th May immigration and bank close

9th May immigration close but bank open

for pattaya residents

"1st May immigration open but bank close"

3rd may all bars resteraunts go gos etc close (no alcohol for elections chonburi/ pattaya)

4th same same #3

5th May immigration and bank close

9th May immigration close but bank open

so thats easy now for everyone to see,

so if you want a pint, and call off at bank you can only go 2/ 6/7/8/9

and if you fancy a pint or 2 and need call in imigration you can only go 1/ 2 /6/7/ 8

:o

Jontiem as mentioned by others is open today, and theres no ques, further more it was mentioned i might have to have an "onward travel ticket" im on a Tourist visa which i have just extended and no mention of it, incidentally a friend of mine who wasnt due to go until tomorrow got his today and they gave him an extra day, dont know if this is common practice, or an oversight!

chris

You should receive 30 days from your permitted to stay until stamp - not from the day you apply.
