For NT4, Win2K, XP, Vista: Hit the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys at the same time and then select "Lock Computer" from the menu.

You might need to set a password on the account if you have not already done so.

Set a password but remember computers here do get hot more than back home!

A way to do it is: from your desktop do a right-click and select properties. Now click on the Screen Saver tab. Check the box to prompt for password. This way anytime you walk away for the specified time your PC willl automatically be password protected.

well if u have the screen saver password protected ,couldnt some 1 just reboot the machine and use it if there is no password for logging in windows again?

They would not even need to do that. Just press a key and put in a blank password and they are in it. It uses the same password as logging in. so if it is blank when you log in, it will be blank for the screen saver.

Go into control panel to the Users applet and set your password. Then you can either ctrl-alt-del, or turn on the screen saver or however you want to do it.
