Remote Computer

Featured Replies

Just need a really simple software to control a remote computer. Reason is that the computer at home needs to be shut down or restarted at certain times from my office here. I know its possible but googling just gives me some really complex systems.

when younger we used to play with trojans in each's computers and it used to be fun scaring the shit out of other users :o so this one has to be secure !

I use VNC http://www.realvnc.com/ free, secure and the paid version is multi platform. It works amazingly well over limited bandwidth connections.

You'll need to forward the relevant ports in you home router for it to work.

The one I use is UltraVNC and is GPL (free) and works fine for me.

thank you guys!! will try ultra vnc

I use LogMeIn free fro remote desktop control and Hamachi for VPN

Both are free and really easy to use and install

www.logmein.com

Getting the remote computer to wake up will be a little more difficult. Maybe need to enable the wakeup on lan settings in the bios.
