New Non-imm B For Working At New School?

Featured Replies

Hello. I have been in Thailand for 6 months now on a Non-B Immigrant visa. It was initially a 3 month visa and was extended for another three months (I believe). It is set to expire late June. I am currently working as a teacher for an agency. I am not on a one year contract but a semester to semester one for this agency. Last semester I worked for a different school than I will be working at this coming semester but same city. I know I have to get a new work permit because I am changing schools but now my agency has informed me that I need a new Non-B visa as well. I was under the impression that this was not that case and that I would simply have to extend my current visa again before the June date. Classes start May 12 and they say I must go to Laos to get a new visa. I do not entirely trust the company I work for and I would like to ask if they are correct that I need to get a new visa. They did not inform me of this matter the whole previous 2 months I have been on vacation while they knew I would be switching schools. While they will take me to Laos I will still have to dish out all the money for getting into the country and getting a new non-B. Also, if I do need to go do this I would like to know what documents and loops I will have to jump through.

I suppose you need the job & the money. I think they should do all the "leg work" & pay all the necessary fees to get you the visa & work permit. I had one "opportunity" to work for a gov't school as an English teacher & they totally "played dumb" over the work permit issue. They extra money would have been nice, but I don't need the hassle.
