Daveywavey Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 I don't know if anyone can help me, but I was wondering how rental guanators are viewed on an application. If, say, I (the sponsor) was renting a flat with my dad as guarantor, because it's my first full-time job. Would this cause problems with an application, and would it be seen as third-party financial support (which isn't allowed), or third-party accommodation support (which is)? I know I won't actually need my guarantor, because I'll have enough income and savings to pay the rent, but it seems to be a necessity. Would be grateful for any help!
the scouser Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 To be honest, I don't know that this issue has ever been raised. However, my belief would be that providing you can demonstrate that your income is both adequate and is likely to be ongoing, you won't need to have to rely upon your father as a guarantor, and can pass of his involvement as a requirement of getting the tenancy. Scouse.

Yes, I'm hoping it'll be like that. I suppose I could also ask for a letter from the landlord, confirming that the need for a guanator isn't because of a lack of income, and also that I have been paying all my rent on time without help from my dad.
