I have recently been having problems with the True set top box and had it replaced and have had two subsequent failures of the new box. Each time they come to fix the thing I am charged 500 baht which I violently protest because the box is rental paid for each month with True Gold also paid for.

Last week I was again challenged and found that all the Gold offerings were now scrambled and of course associated it with the bad set top box and fired off an email designed to burn the company down. I was again promised service next Tuesday and after cooling my heals for a couple days decided to call the support line. The gal informed me that someone had "Stolen my Gold" and changed me to silver which I find baffling at least. Have no idea why someone would do it to begin with since I am unable to understand any benefit for someone to do so which leaves me with the prospect that someone internally to True took my chastisement of their integrity to heart and decided to fix me by changing me to Silver with out authorization.

I have written to True asking for an explanation of how someone not authorized could make such a change but doubt that they will let me in on what they find out, if in fact they even try.

Has anyone else has this type of experience with True service?

Your post seems very confusing..

The set top box has no relevance whatsoever in your channel access.. I dont use the true box(es) at all.

No one can 'steal' your subscription, its registered to your name and address. Someone could however steal your subscription access card. All True have to do is cancel that card and issue you a new one.

I never pay the service guys any money on demand, I will tip if they are helpful and polite. I actually pay the rental charge for a box I dont use as I have found if you dont rent thier equipment they wont come out and service you with the same speed and always simply blame your equipment as a bad installation or setup (plus they are not experienced enough to understand my linux powered satellite boxes). Its worth the 150 ish baht per month to me to have that option.

I would initially go to the true website, register as a true user with your contract number and card number.. Verify your account.. Then check your channel packages. From here you can upgrade your package, manage PPV options, change addresses, etc etc etc. All without dealing with anyone on the phone that doesnt call back or gives poor service.

The box is the only link that my dish has to True and as such the smart card must be the key to what I am allowed to view. The gal at the support center is the one that suggested my Gold had been stolen. In her checking of my account it in fact had been changed to Silver by some one some how. She ultimately did fix it to reflect Gold coverage again and it is now working as it should.

I looked at my account on the True website and it does show me being billed for 905 baht instead of the normal 1568 for this month, so somehow my billing was changed by someone and that is what my OP was all about.

I can see no reason for anyone wanting to change me from Gold coverage and have suspicions that the change was made by someone at True perhaps reacting to my harsh critism of their service. Kind of OK you jerk, critisize us and I will fix you good.

Sorry for the confusion I caused probably trying to say too much in too few words.

OP, it happens for the same reason that I lose my ADSL for two and three days--only to find out that someone at the office flipped a switch when they were doing some kind of maintenance, and then just forgot to switch it back on afterwards. One word describes it: Incompetence

TIT. "stolen" is a code for "we made a mistake but can't admit it". To me, it's not a big deal as long as you know what they mean.

Welcome to the LOS :o

You've to pay a service charge if the problems coming from your own property and not the TRUE property and that charge is normal THB 300.00

Cheers.
