Expatriot Wives Experience

Featured Replies

Much print space in the Western press has of late been given over to the experience of Western men being duped by Asian, specifically Thai, entertainment industry workers. Journalist would like to hear from expatriot women having been abandoned by their husbands/partners on relocating to SE Asia.

If you would like to assist in my research, please pm me in the strictest confidence.

Another journalist looking to centre the world's attention on the Thai sex industry.

Is it through pure laziness and the lack of ability to find something else newsworthy in this country?

And sadly one who is unable to spell 'expatriate' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expatriate

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I doubt the op will get many takers here, the women posting on thaivisa are mainly either married to thai men or single professional working women who didn't come here with a farang partner & cerainly not as his dependant. In fact in the years I have been on thaivisa I have not seen one instance of a farang women posting about being dumped by her farang fella for a thai women (well, we had one but it turned out to be a man trolling as a women) . I'd imagine there are weboards directed more to the expat wives that these women would post at?

In four odd years I have met and known of several western farang women who worked here or were on holiday with their partner and that have been left for a Thai woman. I believe that there is a large number of them but most of them have left the country and I doubt they would still wish to have a connection with Thailand, unless they live here and still are unaware of what's going on in their relationship.

thats what i mean, they wouldn't be posting here as they have no interest in thailand. I was in my local British Home stores the other day trying on a skirt & overhead two older women talking about one of their daughters who's recenetly divorced husband had just up'd sticks with the 40k profit from the sale of the family home leaving an ex wife & 2 kids so he could make a new life in Thailand, no way of getting child support or his asking for access to his kids, just up & left. If that happened to me I doubt I would be on the net looking for info on thailand either :o

As a start you may like to "research" the difference between "expatriot" and "expatriate"

If you need any assistance in this endeavour please pm me in the strictest confidence.

You are obviously a credit to the Journalistic profession - your next step up will be on "Page 3" perhaps? :o

Nice to have some real journalism apart from the usual stereotypical rubbish. Sadly the request even screams of biased.

Do your own research, and maybe come up with something a little more original.

Sounds like a troll to me, and I'm one of the few women here with a farang husband.

Now that is weird - I have just asked for a post I submitted on the Phuket forum to be moved to the Ladies forum on exactly this subject!

No, I am not a troll - My husband of 28 years dumped me for a Thai bar girl after we'd been here for about 18 months and I was asking whether this was a common occurrence.

(well, we had one but it turned out to be a man trolling as a women) .

Yeah, big coincidence. This little troll with multiple accounts and threads has been busy as of late, and vaguely familiar. :o

I agree Kat. How've you been? :D

i was... i came to thailand with a farang boyfriend (0f 8 years) and he left me to become a global sex tourist. ce la vie. he's still my best friend, but i feel sorry for him as his relationships now are very shallow and he has to finance them all.

Posts have been deleted. No trolling please.

I know of two couples who split due to this reason, i'm happy to say though that both ladies have stayed on in Thailand and seem to be making a nice life for themselves.

I don't understand why this topic is being laughed at so much, nor why there are so many men on the "Ladies Forum", if they haven't got anything constructive to say then why comment. :o

Off-topic and trollish posts have been deleted. Next time please use the report button instead of complaining in the forum.

Tamsin, if you have issues with moderation then the place to bring it up is by PM with admin, not the open forum. As you are well aware, I believe.

Regardless, the OP is currently in Thailand so perhaps would find it easier to interview expat women in person rather than post on a forum. Surely they must be fairly easy to find in Bangkok.

Sorry I only know a Farang couple that came here and the wife ran off with a younger Thai guy, and one from a a boys go-go too!!! :o

tamsins post has been removed. I will not allow people who do not contribute anything to this section to critise & slag off the people who do. Anyone attempting to flame or troll will not be tolerated either.

Just curious OP, who do you write for and what is the angle? By supplying this info maybe you'll get some help, but just saying you're a journalist and want to know about this probably won't get you too much info.

Pity the OP doesn't return to the forum, smacks of a posting hit and run to me. One post made and then off:

I think Boo is right - I'm a farang and came here with my farang husband and after 8 years in LOS, we're still together and happily married. Also none of the farang women i know who've come to Thailand with their farang husbands have been dumped for a thai either.

For some strange reason, I have a feeling that this thread and the Is this a common occurance? thread are by the same poster :o

Oh I'm sure it happens, but as I stated in the other thread its the exception, not the rule. If you have a strong marriage you will be fine any place you reside. If it does happen, I'd say its safe to say there were problems in the marriage prior to coming to Thailand.

no, the 'common occurance' thread was started by F1fanatic.

expatriate...

Unless the OP decides to return to the forum in the near future, this thread will be deleted for a troll post:

Given that the OP has still not bothered to return to ThaiVisa to check on this thread I am closing it for the trollish topic it most likely is.

If the OP ever decides to return to ThaiVisa she can PM me or another mod on duty to reopen if necessary.
