I just did a 3 day antibiotic run for bacitrial infection in stomach/digestive tract and have heard that acidophyllis or lacto bactillis is good follow up to replace good bacteria in my gut. Checked with local big pharmacy supply and they did have these in pill form, imported from USA for 600 a box. no way am i going to pay that much....so, I'm wondering if there is some local equivilant or just plain old yogurt and/or yakult would do the trick???

you can buy "infloran" capsules , 24 for about 200b , two a day. they have to be kept at below 20 degrees so take an ice pack along with you to keep them cool until you can put them in your fridge. a decent pharmacy should have them.

its a probiotic.

I think regular yogurt is your best bet. I saw in the news a couple months ago that one of the big yogurt companies is being sued for selling probiotic yogurt at double the cost of regular yogurt. The lawsuit claims that there is no added benefit in the special yogurt.

Yogurt has the good live bacteria in it. I have seen on pill bottles that they state the bacteria count at the time of manufacturing. They do not guarantee the count at the expiration date. So you don't know if any of the bacteria is still alive when you take the pill.

Would any yoghourt brand in Thailand work?? I used to eat the 'low fat Meija' brand a lot, as I thought it had some health giving qualities. However, the wrtiting on the pot was very small and I was not absolutely sure what was in it. I contacted Meija to ask them, but got no reply.

Those infloran capsules, does anyone know which pharmacy? Boots or Watsons .... Tesco or more the typical "Kai Yaa" Thai pharmacies... Just recently had a babe so don't feel like trudging around looking in each one. Thanks!
