I recently received a letter from the company in charge of selling the Elite Cards asking me to join.

This is a one page letter explaining that a lot of people from Singapore, Japan, Taiwan... already enjoy the many benefits brought about by the card and that I'm privileged to be asked to join.

No mention of the actual benefits and no mention of the price.

Just contact following number for an appointment with our sales representative.

Since they did it with me, I guess they did it with many, many foreign companies.

I'm sure the sales will skyrocket...

I heard the elite cards were about 10 million baht each and actually didnt give you anything yet, just a promise from Tuksin that in the future farang may be able to buy land outright if they held a card.(dont know if correct or not)

Benefits? What benefits? Just having a card likth that and the status it confers on the member are the benefits. Think how impressed everyone will be when they are shown a card that costs a million baht and does nothing! It is the ultimate marketer's dream: All image, packaging and advertising and no product!

I bought Elite card 1 m baht. so far OK, easy immigration, transfer from airport to home in BKK and outbound. Staff very helpfull, 25% disc on internal tkts, business class. If your base is not in BKK, and you don't play golf or like massage, don't buy. For me, so far OK. The land deal was in the original contract, then revoked. Who knows what will be changed next. But for me so far OK. Ask for a discount I suggest!! post if you get it. I charged on Amex, and got the fees (3%) revoked! Elite seems to be in trouble.

25% discount on internal tickets...how many Bangkok - Phuket roundtrips before you've saved the price of the card?

About the only true benefit to having an Elite Card is the one Axel points out in the previous post.

fees revoked!?! your not supposed to pay those fees. you probably know that already. if you don't, just call and ask AMEX. then report the elite card for charging you them.

Might be a good laugh to hear what the salesman has to say.
